Sorry to be a poo poo, but I don’t think it’s a mk2. The mk2 had dovetailed rear sight and finger grooves in the stock, also steel loading tap lever, not cast alloy.

30 grain Barnes is the lightest I’ve come across, but there may be lighter ones available? After all, you’re asking someone who thinks that Slash is an actual god? ...........hang on, he is, so I might be right?? forgive me....?
-
As well as the 45 grain soft point .22 hornet loads there’s 35 grain v-max, 40 gain v-max, 40 grain Sierra varmint and 30 grain Barnes grenade homeloads here.
-
Agreed David, if it’s vermin what’s being gained apart from pretending to save the planet by using lead free bullets?
-
I’m not sure what lead free .17 bullets will be like if and when they’re forced on us? Might be worth consideration before you choose. My hornet is .22, but I can see your point with the .17, for me .22 was a better all round calibre. I know someone who had both and sold the .17 because the .22 worked better on foxes.

I’m sure you will love the hornet Ben. I hardly use hmr, the hornet does anything hmr will do but better. Also, you can reload them for next to nothing. Hmr gets used for squirrels and crows sometimes, rabbits either .22 or fac air.

It will be interesting to see how you get on with it jimmy. Some people seem to say they’re crap, but probably haven’t actually experienced one. Same with hatsan, but a friend of mine has an AT44-10 and for the money I think it’s good, a bit heavy maybe, but it certainly does the job.

I find jsb’s to be accurate as you like straight out of the tin. Never felt the need to wash or lube them and I’ve got better things I can be doing with my time. Each to their own mind??
-
No, they don’t fit in my hw100 because it’s .177?
-
FAC air can be very useful but it isn’t really a replacement for .17 hmr, maybe nearer to .22 rimfire in some situations, better than both for some. They can offer a lot more reach and hitting power than a 12ft lb rifle though. Rookery shooting for example, fac air is probably the best tool for the job?

You had another good session Mark. I couldn’t get out yesterday, had to spend the afternoon in the hot tub and you wouldn’t want to see any pictures of that?

It is for .177 , .20 & .22 but I set my .25 at that range because I don’t shoot much further than that with it as the trajectory becomes a bit difficult to judge beyond 25 yards for sure. Travelling below 500fps those fat heavy pellets soon start to drop. Inside 20 yards, not a problem ??. Off topic slightly, I’ve struggled to get any .25 pellet to hold useable accuracy at much beyond 30 yards at 12ft lb velocities. I’m thinking that as the speed drops even more at these ranges, the heavier pellets lose stability in flight? But then, I might be wrong, it has been known....??...and I’m ramb

Out of interest, where are you lads keeping your reloading powders? I’ve read that some police authorities are confusing nitro powders and black powder storage regulations.....? -
Similar here, I set up at 35yards for .177 and 27yards for .22 for 12ft lb rifles. I also have a .25 rifle running about 11.5ft lbs, I set this up a 20yards. Edit to say, I also have .20 cal at 12ft lbs and obviously this tends to sit in between .177 & .22 regarding trajectory, depending on pellet weight of course. Not very popular I know, but something a bit different I suppose. I’ve certainly shot some vermin over the years with .20, and I used that calibre almost exclusively in the nineties, strangely in conjunction with .25 which I used mainly for feral pigeons in factories

?good result David ??

Nasty sores, what happened to them David?

What are you on about Ian? They’re great, I set mine up at 1000 yards and it’s point and shoot out to a mile and a quarter. Didn’t you believe the hype?

Bleddy snobs.........? -
Exactly right Mark, some of them seem to think that somebody just opens a box on shoot day and the sky is magically filled with pheasants. They don’t even know how to set a fenn trap or even have any interest in vermin control, “just the game shooting please”, then go home until the next shoot day. Like you though, I much prefer rough shooting, in fact, I’d take a day in the woods squirrel shooting over driven pheasant any day. I’d rather do the keepering and vermin control than the game shooting in that respect. Still, everybody’s different I suppose?

Does Gamo make a PCP air rifle in .25 caliber?
Dervburner replied to Johnmash2's topic in General Airgun Discussion
What’s wrong with gamo’s? I wanted one of these when I was a youth. My mate had one, with his telescopic sight (not many of us could afford them) it was a starling slayer. He used to knock them off the house roof at amazing distances (about 25 yards). What a rifle.......we thought? -
Yerr, it’s a bit worrying when you lose your rubber end? good service that??
-
Yerr, all my jeans had little holes in them where the battery acid leaked ?
