1. Yerr, got this one still in the garage, it will be going out on duty soon.
2. As I’d recently had a good few squirrels in the traps and shot a fair few more recently I got around to setting a feeder up on Monday. I didn’t really know what to expect, but when I checked it on Wednesday the hopper was half way down. I topped it up and checked it again on Thursday, half way down again. This looked promising as it usually takes about a week before they’re on it proper. Well, as the weather was looking ok for Friday, I thought I’d try this window of opportunity as the weekend looks poor to say the least. Anyway, as I arrived with my pop up hide there was a squirrel already on
3. Might get one myself, I fancy a 77. The only thing is, I know I’ll end up throwing more dosh at it for tuning and a custom stock.........oh dear? ?
4. Yes, but it’ll lose value. If you do, I know what’s required to get them running nicely at 18-20ft lb in .22, they are available in .25 but it’s special order from hull cartridge. I saw one in a gun shop a couple of years ago, it was only about £100 if I remember label said HW80 fac. It’s a buyers market for these things used.
5. There’s also the Webley patriot, but I’ve read that they need detuning from factory setting of 30ft lb due to being harsh and nasty. Again, 20ft lbs seems to be about as high as they run smoothly. HW80 is similar and easy to upgrade from 12ft lbs, but resale value of an fac HW80 is going to be low I’d think. Not a lot of choice, but to make worthwhile fac power they’re going to be relatively big and heavy, no getting away from that. One thing about the eliminator is the ease of power adjustment compared to the spring powered rifles. If you have a pump you can fine tune them to their sweet spot
6. Bleddy noodle arms? seriously though, it was probably running at full chat (about 30ft lbs) and at that I admit they’re harsh. As for carrying, no problem with a sling, the cocking and firing cycles are much nicer when the ram pressure is dropped to the levels I mentioned.
7. I bought mine a few years ago, when they started fitting the new style stock and cocking lever insert. I’ve never removed the spring from the insert in mine and I’ve never experienced the gauling issue. I have polished all the moving parts and fitted a v-mach kit however. I’d say it’s one of the best break barrel air rifles I’ve ever owned, and I’ve owned more than a few. Mine is .22, I haven’t tried one in .177 but as I understand it, the .22’s shoot smoother. I was so impressed with it that I bought a cs700 from Custom stocks Sheffield.
8. Theoben Eliminator | FAC Airgun Reviews | Gun Mart WWW.GUNMART.NET
Bruce Potts discusses his passion for big bore airguns as he tests the powerful and self-contained FAC rated .25” Theoben Eliminator

9. Theoben eliminator .25, can be had for relatively little money. Good build quality and run nicely when reduced to about 25ft lb. I know someone who had one, and someone else who had one in .22, the .22 was best at about 20ft lb.
10. Mine is .22 and it was pretty good out of the box. I fitted a v-mach kit and a good polish and it’s now super smooth. 99’s are lovely little rifles imo, and good build quality at that price point. I can’t think of another air rifle at the price to compare.
11. .............so which one is better? ?
12. Hurray! Good to see you back SD, normal service can be resumed ?at last.........?
13. Have a look at what you need, then buy used off fleabay. Turret press, powder measure, die set and then it’s just consumables to get you started. As si says, no need to get too far into it. I just use an old Lyman turret press with an rcbs uni flow powder measure mounted on the press. Sizing die, seating die and crimp die.
14. Yerr, they’ve gone up alright, I’ve just had a look and I’ve only got 223 hmr left. Thought I’d got more than that, but then I haven’t bought any for a good while. The last hornady’s I bought were £12:50 a box. Agreed, I can reload my .22 hornet for less than hmr money now, in fact I’ve just loaded some today.?
15. Yerr, it’s probably the barrel. The knockout’s work really well in my impact, so do h&n slugs??
16. Agreed, I use cb/bb caps, shorts, cb longs, z longs, subs, and high velocity for different situations. Very versatile vermin gun is .22rf. ??
17. Ok, thanks for that vm, probably be the same in mine then. Anyway, I’m happy with the 10 grain jsb exact heavy, they’re spot on.
18. Sure you’ll enjoy the impact fella, I can’t put mine down?
19. I use cb/bb caps and .22 shorts for shooting rats, but I only use .22 shorts on an embankment that’s infested with the things. Also shoot a fair few squirrels with .22 shorts. I’m using s&b’s at the moment running about 750fps, ideal for what I need in some situations. When did rimfires get banned from fairgrounds? They were on in 2019 before covid, I had a go with an old Winchester pump, I think it was something like ten shots for three quid?
20. Thanks jimmy, I’d like to try some in my hw100??
21. Same here, I’ve never really liked hmr.
