  1. I don’t know about the 1416, but my 1417 bolt is as smooth as butter. It’s had some use mind.
  2. That fac air takes some beating on squirrels, I’ve had a fair few with the impact .22 this last couple of months?
  3. Good bit of sport and a nice way to spend a Friday afternoon vm. I had fun with my new hobby, fitting skirting boards, not at all envious ??
  4. I wouldn’t have thought stingers would have a massive amount of drop at 200 yards, but I think it would be accuracy that would be the limiting factor at that distance. Not that I’ve tried them at that distance, in fact it must be ten years since I used any stingers. They make a mess of squirrels by .22 standards, that I remember....?
  5. A decent touch, nothing too big......? sorry, can’t help?
  6. I’ve got a synthetic cz, but it’s a 452 which I prefer to the 455 but anyway they’re both shit apparently ???
  7. I think it will be going up Stav. A farmer I know isn’t selling any at the moment, reckons he’s waiting until Christmas because it’ll keep going up until then....?
  8. Is that 217 for stx barrel vm? Also, how do they compare to the 21grain h&n’s, I’ve been impressed with them. I’ve also got a tin of 30grain h&n but haven’t tried them yet. Probably a bit heavy?. I wanted to try 23grain but they were out of them and he came down with a tin of 30grain instead so I said I’d take them anyway, I’ll probably try a few and then there’ll probably still be 190 of them in the tin for years?
  9. Good shooting vm, I’m interested in these zan slugs, are they easily available?
  10. That’s a beauty my old lad. Dare I ask how much the work costs for the stage 4 tune? I wouldn’t mind something like that, I mean, I need one...? I always need something ?? ?
  11. No Phil, not hw’s, too tight for those. I also have a 1958 Webley senior .22 and it spits original 5.6 eley wasps out at just over 400fps, with most 5.5’s it’s well down on that figure and it’s easy to tell they’re just too loose. Same with my Webley mk3, it doesn’t feel as nice to shoot with 5.5’s and I’m now running low on original eley wasps in .22 and they’re getting scarce now so I’d like to find a viable replacement for the oldies?
  12. I’m thinking they should be ok in my old webleys where most pellets are too loose.
  13. A friend of mine has a hatsan at44, the synthetic one with adjustable cheek piece and butt pad. He’s a pest controller and uses it for part of his job. I think he paid £300 for it. I’ve used it for a few days when he lent it to me to try out with some different pellets. I thought that for the money it was good, a bit heavy maybe, but it works well enough and it’s accurate. Some of these cheaper models represent good value I think.
  14. Where did you get them mate? I’m wanting to try 5.54 if I can get any. Should be good for old British .22 barrels.
  15. Just watched it SL, lovely views of a grand bit of countryside. Spotted you driving past as well, if I’m honest, that was the best bit??
  16. I keep getting them SD, another stoat yesterday...
  17. I’ll be interested in how you get on with it Phil. I’m thinking that just maybe,....... I might need one as well ?? oops?
  18. You’re welcome Ben, hope they’ll be of some use to you?
  19. Got a nice dose of food poisoning from here....St Ives?
  20. Like you say SD, everybody’s different. I couldn’t do without a .22, wouldn’t miss hmr one bit. I’ve never really gelled with the calibre. My pal loves them, uses his all the time and he doesn’t like .22??
  21. With match ammo, pretty good, I’ve shot out to 160-170 but haven’t tried them at 200. I’ve shot plenty of rabbits at 150 yards plus with .22 because that’s all I had, but if I wanted to shoot them further out I’d use centrefire which is dead easy at those ranges. Used to head shoot foxes always with .22 rimfire as well, and a lot further than the 50 yards they say these days. A old pal of mine shot a fox as it sat yawning, he dropped a 40 grain subsonic in its mouth and the bullet exited the top of its head and that paced out over 120 yards, couldn’t have been a cleaner kill. Foxes must be ‘ar
  22. Yerr, less ricochet and you can turn the power down, as you can with different rimfire ammo. I don’t know about more accurate and shoot further though?
