    This one is 16 shot David. It came with an 8 shot mag that’s sits flush with the trigger guard. As I only had the one 8 shot mag, which is ergonomically superior in many circumstances, I’m grateful for the spare 16 shot mag which is always going to be a handy addition. It may get in the way slightly sometimes, but I’ll live with that?. I know what you’re saying David, but these 511 mags are scarce so there lies the rub.

    With this bird flu, and regulations coming on the 29th, I’ve knocked the larsens off for the moment. Still getting plenty of squirrels so need to get round to setting a couple of feeders up. Pop goes another weasel ..........

    Big thanks to SD for sending me a 16 shot mag for my cz511 free of charge. Much appreciated sir. Tried it out and it slipped straight in lovely (ooh err missus). Just got two hang ups out of 16. Just required a slight tweak to the lips as SD suggested and it’s now perfect. Rattles 16 subs out as fast as...... Many thanks Mr Sausage ??

    Yerr, I have to go through that regarding cormorants, even calibre of gun and ammunition specified on license. As for starlings, they were everywhere when I was a lad. Regarded as pests (flying rats) at the time, we used to use them as target practice. Can’t say that I care for them now much either...?

    Yerr, only picked it up Friday, just went out for a play with it. To be honest, it’s a bit more accurate than I expected. Only tried it with sk hv’s, eley subs and cci segmenting up to yet and it cycles and shoots them all pretty well ?.

    Semi auto’s aren’t accurate are they? Neither is high velocity .22 rimfire ammo? CZ511, SK high velocity hollow point, 8 shots (full mag) 80 yards.....

    These things happen. I reversed over my trigger sticks the other week and didn’t even realise until I found them by accident the next day. Thought I’d put them in the truck, anyway, one of the legs was slightly bent, but it’s all ok now after a bit of work. They’re pretty tough to have sustained such slight damage.

    I know what you mean about pain, I did the same thing back in the eighties. The nail went right through. When you mentioned it started to throb, that brought it back to me. I couldn’t put my foot down for days, and as you say, Jesus Christ, he knew what it felt like as well?

    The thing with hmr ballistic tips is inconsistent fragmentation. It depends what they strike in the body of a small animal or bird, that determines the terminal effect. If they only contact soft tissue, not a vital organ, they can pass through with very little expansion, therefore not always an instant kill. But then, I might be talking crap, it has been known??

    When I was a lad, my uncle had a lightweight single barrel twelve with a three inch chamber. He used to give me the old single and a handful of eley magnums when we were shooting crows. Talk about kick, I was probably about nine stone wet through at the time, and my uncle and his pals would fall about laughing every time I took a shot. It nearly put me on my arse every time.....?

    Winchester are the worst in my hmr, in fact it shoots pretty well with every other brand. I think all brands of hmr except Winchester are manufactured by cci anyway? I too found the 20 grain slightly more accurate than the 17 grain offerings, but they aren’t as frangible.

    They taste quite strong, darkish meat, very gamey.
