  1. I’m glad it looks like she took. Any more photos of her? Cheers
  2. Thanks. Dam collie, whippet, bull, grey. Sire 3/4 whippet 1/4 beddy. He is still going well for me ?
  3. Mine will come picking up with me now and again
  4. Considering the dog had to be pulled of the sheep, I’m sure a firm hand would have been more than appropriate regarding to (timing) of the telling off.
  5. It’s a shame it’s not a bitch, as I have a dog here and that’s exactly the sort I would like to put him with. Looks a lovely type, I imagine he works similar to mine. Bet he has seen some work ? all the best.
  6. Mine has been the same and so have others who live round me. But like others have said mine was okay after 2 days
  7. I would play a game with him, drag it along the floor making hissing noises, tease him a little with it. make him want to have it in his possession. If still no joy I would stop and try again the next day. Or try advice from others on here. Also I think if you are showing him his reward too early as in a piece of cheese he will drop what ever he is carrying as it’s more of a appeal to him. He will lose interest in what ever you are trying to get him to retrieve.
  8. One thing that I think works a treat on all dogs and is massive in the gun dog world, is a long lead(line). Don’t know many people who use them with lurchers but I did with mine and seemed to work well. Get a ball or dummy throw it within the limit of how long the lead is. Let the dog go and pick it up if the dog doesn’t come back just rain it back to you then reward. I think the reason it works well is you eliminate the chance of fail. There for you can reward the dog more and sooner, and stops a lot of confusion for a older dog that doesn’t already retrieve. Might help
  9. Accidents do happen when just on a walk with a head torch! Sire of mine was 3/4 whippet 1/4 beddy. Do like your bitch mate ?
  10. Really not clued up on these bigger dogs. What would be the risk running to early charts, opening up or injury? Or both ?
  11. Would be interested putting mine over something like that. Could see them being good mooching dogs.
  12. Let me know if you ever want to see him run ?
  13. Mine has a tiny bit of bull and a lot of whippet. Along with everything els!
  14. Very nice mate. How tall if you don’t mind me asking? My type of dog that ?would like to find a bitch bred this way to put mine over.
  15. Good night for it tonight strong wind had a fun couple hours
  16. Nice one mate! got some decent weather for it tonight round me. Good luck for rest of season ?
  17. Always liked the look of this bitch, is a shame! How tall was she?
  18. Got one very similar my self except it’s one of these American “wicked lights”. Comes with red, green, and white. But the white light is useless. The red is brilliant tho as a spotter. Get great eye shine from it. Not worth the money tho!
  19. To teach them not to be running in after every shot started for me with a dummy. Getting him steady to that first. Then it was a case of getting him in the hide and educating him. Be consistent. Never tell them of when they are carrying something. It’s all about timing. If they make a run for it out the hide once you have shot something, try to get out after them before they make a retrieve, as giving them a telling off once they have something in there mouth gets very confusing for them. It also makes life much easier if they can mark most of what comes down. So mine has learnt to sit in the
  20. Had mine out in the pigeon hide today. He does the job and is soft mouthed with feather ?
  21. RIP have enjoyed watching videos of him also.
