  1. Smart specimen. Good old hornet. Class ?
  2. Phil, I shot at a 200yd crow today. It fell short, I guessed the range wrong. I guessed the windage for my misjudged range and I saw the bullet touch down. Perfect windage but low. The crow I did get was 80yds. I just ignored the wind for that distance. Its not as bad as some think all things relative.
  3. Lousy with them. Tried some of my Mrs knicker elastic once, blasted stuff, put me shoulder out!
  4. Shooting is getting stupid. I'm buying a bow....
  5. Sorry guys, looks like I am out of date. .17 HMR - Wikipedia EN.M.WIKIPEDIA.ORG
  6. As far as I am aware only cci and Winchester make hmr ammo. It is quite unique. It requires special machinery to neck the primed case for the bullet. The process work hardens the brass that can not be annealed after the work due to the priming. It is what causes the split necks sometimes. It would take alot of investment of RWS to make an hmr line.
  7. I think with a 100yd zero you will be minute of rabbits head close to 150yds. 200yds it will need 6" of hold over though. It starts really dropping after 150 but still dependable at 200 sans wind. Wind doesn't really bother it up to 100yds. If its really windy I take a shotgun etc.
  8. I've used 20gn and 17gn bullets on foxes and there is very little in it so I just stick to 17gn ammunition now. Hornady mostly.
  9. About 130 yards has been my longest so far with 17. Most are under 100yds. I drill their ribs and if they do run it is not far. If ever I do lose one I know I have killed it by shooting them across the ribs as opposed to possibly smashing jaw. I must admit to one or two being head shots mind! It's better than one would think.
  10. My first hmr was one of them and yes very very accurate right out to silly distances.
  11. Slinky is still coming but at stupid ok, around 4am. Looks like a freshman has arrived also, at a more sensible hour! Between 7&8 pm. I'll see what the times are tomorrow and go from there.
  12. Back to the cameras, trail cameras. Mine broke after three years. Bought a cheap one, sent it back, broke down and got the wallet prised open and bought a spypoint 20! Slinky or another has been feeding every night at the spot but I couldn't get a time!
  13. Thanks Dave. I'll bear it in mind but I haven't casted for years.
  14. Consider a pump action to! Shame couldn't of looked at your hattie, bet I could of fixed it.
  15. They were poor in my marlin auto. Glad your happy with them.?
  16. Thanks mate. PJs are for night time only!
  17. I made my own simple tools and bought a roll crimper that goes in a drill. What are these survival loaders you mention?
  18. Pretty much the same Ben. Bolt on the harth. Pull through to remove condensation after gun has dried or come to room temp. I prefer to grease or wax the exterior it stays on better once caught out in it. Oils just lift off.
  19. Excellent results. Those Hornady bullets were the very first I reloaded in 222. Many years ago now. I'm glad you played with that fore end. It is the weak link in that design and stumps many. Well done ?.
