  1. Best time in the world first light??
  2. So I nail a tin of fish to a post and waited for them to appear. I was after the adults to some of the cubs I cleaned up on a few weeks ago. The vixen appeared first but it was to light to move closer. I watched her catching bugs and waited. When it was dark enough to lose 150yds I was blessed with the dog fox turning up to join her! Eventually I got my chance at the vixen at 100ish yards. A shoulder shot anchored her good. I rushed to find her mate but lost him momentarily. When I did see him he was a good way away. Later paced it around 175 yards. For the shot he sto
  3. 125gn plated by H&N. I need to look these up. I've been loading some 155gn Sierra tmk's backwards for my 30-30 m94 on A2400. Makes a good rabbit load.
  4. Pigeon flighting crop protection at its best.
  5. Missed it! At 40yds!!! I let this smallish adult get to close on dusk. I was fiddling with the NV and ended up rushing the shot. Fortunately there was no light source involved. I then walked a mile to the polo field and found cubs. Turned out to be two litters. Local intel had informed me of sightings. After three went down they all left but returned later. The adult present was gone in no time! I got six, #7 slipped away and stayed away. Next I drove to another farm that has cut grass and found two more cubs. Got one but the other was quite smart! It was at one point
  6. I don't think they have been making the new Winchester ammo that long??
  7. Winchester 94 30wcf circa 1966. My fourth 94.
  8. Here is my recent target zeroing session. Four rounds off hand ,100 strides. Testing will resume asap. No idea what the target was, I found it. The old sleeper isn't really used.
  9. Stopped using them a few years ago. I came to the conclusion that if it was choice between them and a cattie I'd choose the catties! Why they shut that plant in Australia I'll never understand.
  10. No way, don't know what I may of caught!
  11. I borrowed my mates 70 bogseat to go poaching. It ran out of fuel and he had left it on reserve. I was stuck with a back box full of pheasants. I knocked on this country house and explained the situation to this old lady and asked for a mug full of petrol. She opened up the garage and produced a petrol can. I tipped some in the bogger and thanked her. She insisted I fill it up! She could not accept a cup full would be enough. Lasted about two weeks bless her. Sweet old lady, never forgot her.
  12. Nowt for me which surprised me as it usually produces and I know they are here!
  13. Same idea lads. So peaceful but cool for July. I've got my winter coat on!
  14. Ok, I'll deal with it. You send it to me and I will bin it for you safely ??
  15. Hmmm, you may need a shim under the scope at the front.
  16. I use a HMR graduated scope so zero at 100. Never really had an issue on closer stuff. Sometimes if a scope is slightly inclined it can cause issues.
  17. Look at this. 74 paces off hand! Can't believe this boinger!
  18. A friend of mine got an allotment recently. Digging it over he found what he thought were onions so ate them. Turned out he poisoned himself by eating daffodil bulbs and has been in hospital for months now. The doctor's say he will be out in spring. As for the pigeons, ask Cwis, he knows best! I know what I would do and it goes along these lines, if it's ok to shoot a rat or rabbit eating my lettuce's.......
  19. The ammo thing has always been a farce. How on earth can it be policed? I was once turned down a 357 carbine because they were worried I might supply the criminal world with ammo! I pointed out that at the time there was pistol clubs up and down the country and how or where is that part of my responsibility with regards to providing a good reason to use said carbine. Does your nut sometimes...
  20. On that certificate no, maybe not but there is nothing stopping one from reloading, around a friend's, miles away even, "oh look, I didn't realise I still got these in stock, we can do the reloading together another time then. Thanks, bye...."
