Thats a fair point, i read it as meaning crossbred rabbit/hare but it could easily have meant wild/domestic, some thing i mentioned in my first post on the subject? As for backing myself up as a decent guy to you lot, hardly. I've been on here years, never acted the twat or posted bullshit. I am a decent bloke and there are plenty on here who've met me and know it. Maybe you could have had a look through my posts before jumping in feet first. For all i know you're the chav skank wandering round my area shooting cats and song birds with his airgun, but, i dont assume that you are just

Thats not very fair mate but im getting used to it. I run my dogs on legal quarry and can call them off when i choose, im not the kind of moronic killer with a pack of slavering dogs you lot would like me to be. No doubt there are wrong 'uns with lurchers but the airgun world isnt without its pricks, see the swans and cygnets post, but you dont see me tarring you all with the same brush do you? The bigotry here is getting beyond a joke. At no point have i been abusive or patronising and yet i still get this shit just because i run a lurcher. You dont know me, i've been shooting for years

True to a point. Absolutely nothing wrong with the shooting at all, cleanly killed no doubt. In fact, im pleased it was a rabbit and not a hare but we'll skirt round that one . On the otherhand i do think its better on the whole to know what it is your shooting at before you pull the trigger. That said, its an easy mistake to make on the lamp, nevermind using night vision. No offence meant just stated what i saw

This place gets worse and worse ....

no worries lads markha did me a favour and i thought id do the same for a fellow hunter thats how it should be .tyla youve forgot to leave your address mate Sorry mate, i assumed you'd want payment first so could get the address of paypal. Anyway, address all sent just let me know the cost and i'll sort it straight away. Thanks again

Hares and rabbits dont cross breed. If anything the two in question could have a dash of domestic rabbit blood thats pushed the size up. To me they just look like big rabbits. Perhaps there should be a picture next to each species in the general quarry list thats pinned above, just for anyone struggling with quarry identification? Its certainly good practice to know what species your about to shoot.

And once you've drilled it into him do it again and again and again! Do it once a week for 6 weeks and you'll be fine mate. Good luck and all the best with him. Keep us posted eh? I'm keen to see how you get on! And then go and own up to the owner of the sheep and see if he wants some arsewipe and his ill trained dog walking through his fields That'll help the lad eh? Well done! Dont think the intention was to help the lad. People who've been on the recieving end of sheep worrying tend to have very definate views on it. Theres been alot of talk about training the d

Cheers mate, i'll have a look. Had a target hawke with parallax on a different gun a few years back but didnt get on with it, probably the parallax though. Looks like a trip to the gunshops in order to have a look at a few. Dont think anyone else in the airgun section likes me after the hares post. Never get any replies when i post in here any more LOL

Good luck with that, its just the same with dogs. Far too many fuckwits involved in hunting and they make the genuine lads look bad. Shame.

Having recently used a friends scope with mil dot reticule I am contemplating upgrading my 15 year old simmons 3-9x50. I am pretty much out of touch with current airgun gear so im after some advice. I dont want to spend a fortune but want something reasonable quality, im happy with the simmons lenses and dont want anything with parallax as i use a laser range finder for that. So, what does everyone else use and recommend? Thanks
-
Thanks mate, i've seen a fair few of both live and dead so im well aware of the differences. It must be the picture, you've seen it for real so i'll take your word for it, but it doesnt look like a hare to me.
-
The body, legs and ears are like a scaled up rabbit but the head shape is more like a hare. A really interesting creature, Festa do you have any other pictures? If it is a rabbit its the biggest wild rabbit i've ever seen! Just had another look at the picture, were those full grown rabbits behind it or young ones?
-
It might just be the picture but that doesnt look like a hare to me. It looks like an enormous rabbit, look at the length of the back legs, compared to a hares, and the shape of the ears. I think you might have a record breaking giant rabbit there! Do you have any more photos?

If you are buying new then have a think about .20 cal, im not sure which manufacturers do a .20 but its well worth it. I've shot a single shot .20 Falcon FN19 since 1999. I've bought and sold a range of multi shots since but always ended up using the same old single shot because i knew the gun inside out and love the flat shooting of the .20. I still use the same gun now and have no intention of changing. The benefits of the .20 cal far outway the benefits of modern multi shot, regulated rifles IMO.

Your doing the right thing mate, there are too many people who take dogs on without thinking about the commitment they need. Your always welcome to come out and run on of mine or Brads though. The most important thing is to get your licence sorted before next season!

rascal - He still has one bitch pup from the litter left, i believe, but hes based in Lincs now. Im happy with her, just need to get past the obstinate phase and into next season. Bogger - thanks

Just a few pics of Willow, 8 months, bred by Sussexpoacher off here. She's coming on well, watched some ferreting last year and watches the terriers and lurchers bushing. She's caught four starter rabbits now and retrieved them nicely while out on walks. I dont let her join in bushing as i want her hunting and retrieving on her own account before shes joins in with the pack. Next season once shes lamping and ferreting ok i'll get her out with them. Shes a bit headstrong at times and just coming into the phase where shes knows what im asking her to do but has to decide whether she wants

Hello Ben, permission can be hard to come by around here as alot of the ground is keepered estates but there are bits around if you look hard enough. You'll have more chance with airgun permission i expect as its not so frowned upon as running dogs. I'll keep my eye out for you as i sometimes get offered bits that are more suitable for airgunning. Good luck and welcome to the forum

I tried all sorts of things, game bags, copies in ply etc and to be honest they were crap. Eventually i bought some 8mm steel rod, bent it to shape and got a mate to weld it up. If your going to do it your best doing it properly to start with, it actually took alot less time than some of the other set ups i'd tried and has worked perfectly ever since Good luck!

Unusual to see pics from you mate, you must be bored! Nice to see the dogs too

Last Time I will ever lend gear to a mate.

Give him a slap to make yourself feel better then write it off as a lesson learned. I wouldnt waste your time in court, cost more than the binos are worth -
Good to see them again Penny, they look great. I will put an update on Willow up at some point

I've had this argument with .terrierman. before, its a waste of time. He knows all there is to know about killing cubs and he loves it. Dont waste your time on him.
