  1. Wow, its got just like the dog section. The full range of THL nutjobs all on one thread! Isn't Summer great
  2. Some of you people come across as such pompous twats, the man is asking for you to let him know if you are offered a stolen gun. At no stage did he ask for an assessment of his home security. Lets also bear in mind that it is an airgun and therefore not covered by any laws on storage other than the very general ones posted above. Unless you have been offered the gun or want to sympathise with a fellow sportsman who has been robbed why reply? Do you honestly have nothing better to do than be smug over the internet?
  3. That Number woud be great thanks.....Lingfield really the closest !! where do the greyhound triners go ? Annoyingly, yes. Its the closest and thats where trainers go, thats who put me onto them. I have heard of the place at albourne but never been there. There are a couple of bonemen around but if its an actual vet you want then its Lingfield or Maidstone as far as i know. Pm coming with vets name and number
  4. If your close to the Brighton track you will find that, wierdly, there are no greyhound vets about. The closest is Lingfield, PM me if you want the number.
  5. These are exactly that daft, their the only ones i've got though all the other places have been thinned right out and only the paranoid ones have survived. I quite enjoy the static hunting, get in the right place, nice and comfy, even a book or a snooze and shoot whatever appears. Its a good way to go once they are too twitchy to stalk.
  6. LOL, get yourself down here and come for a shoot. Theres enough light in the evenings now for you to finish work and get the train and still get a decent time out there. Not sure i'd fancy bringing your rifle on the train though
  7. I re visited the new bit of ground where the rabbits were so green today. My wife was working on the yard there and i popped in for a shoot, had a walk round while she finished off the horses and managed five for 6 shots. Then we took the dogs for a nice walk which turned into a mammoth hike up the side of the downs. When we got back to the yard she went home and i had another walk round. I shot another four, one of which was a lasered 54 yards which i was pleased with. Ended up with nine which is the puppy fed for 4 1/2 days. The rabbits are not as daft as they were which somehow made
  8. Sometimes this forum is actually painful to read, i really dont know why i do it
  9. Priceless not only is the scamming thing still on going but mole is back as well! I thought it was all getting back to normal in here lol
  10. Yes mate, the ground is down this way though. You really need to get that licence sorted! Seriously though, if you fancy it i could pick you up from the station?
  11. Herdwick asked me to visit a grass field hes just mown next to the railway. We've had difficulty keeping on top of the rabbits there as all the buries are on the railway and cant be ferreted and the lights of the railway make the rabbits very flighty on the lamp. Hes lost a fair bit of grass and now its been cut he wants a dent made in them before the next crop grows. Ive been having a go at them over the last few weeks but the high grass has made it hard work. There was a strip about 5 metres wide they've eaten down between the railway fence and the long grass but getting a shot as they c
  12. I'd take you if you were nearer. Have a bump on me
  13. My bitch is too driven and oblivious to risks, resulted in so many injuries that shes never worked a season all the way through, is missing two toes, covered in scars and pretty much retired at four years old. My jrtxwhippet works fine but whinges like mad in the van if he thinks we're going hunting and could sometimes do with just a touch more speed on a fast course. The pup is only young so we'll see how this season pans out
  14. Thats true to a degree, alot depends on the length of time you've had the ground. Some places i have done a fair while and do the bulk of it over winter when there are no kits. Once breeding time comes the population is knocked back so i can leave it alone over summer. If you pick up new ground at this time of year though the land owners usually has a problem and wants fast results so you do what you need to. I have that problem at the moment, i dont really like doing it but its what they expect and the reason they want you there.
  15. The butchers i sell to only want them from october onwards, they reckon theres not much market for them in the summer. Im not really sure why, unless people eat more stews over winter. They reckon they sell most to eastern europeans so maybe they only want them wintertime for some reason? I'll get through them, one of our dogs is gluten intolerant and eats two a day and they others get them when theres a surplus. I eat them myself but not as often as i used to. The ferrets gets through a few but i've got them on biscuit now as the flies are a pain in the arse with meat in the court. I
  16. you got the PM then!! point taken!! regards davy Never got the PM til this morning, the offer was and still is genuine. If you let me know when your meet is i'll come although i'd personally rather have a day out shooting. If thats what it takes to break up this silly divide i'd be more than happy to. Im a great believer in trying to do whatever it takes to promote our sport, by which i mean all kinds of hunting. I regularly take out less experienced people who show an interest, even if they dont take to it its one more person whos actually got experience to form an opinion f
  17. Thats true. Cheers mate
  18. Not really sure what you're so keen on protecting. Its very good that you all get on so well, im happy for you. I also get on well with the people i hunt and shoot with daily. It doesnt mean that i assume everyone i dont know is a shit stirrer. If anything has brought this section down it was the utter dross posted by a couple of, hopefully, ex members who made it a laughing stock. Anyhow, im not embarking on a row with you. How about a day out on my ground to prove im not an ogre?
  19. No, maybe I should just be a bit more hard hearted. I like to hunt for sport rather than pest control, dont get much enjoyment out of sniping tame rabbits. Has to be done though, part of the deal pest control for permission. I'd just feel better about it if it could have been done outside the breeding season. I shouldnt think they'll stay stupid for long though!
  20. My wife works at a stables and offered my services to clear the rabbits. This happens a fair bit and can sometimes be a pain in the arse but at other times can result in more land so i always go with an open mind. Having met the farmer and been given a map of the farm we agreed that i start with the paddocks over the Summer with a view to access to the rest of the farm in the season. I went for a preliminary look the other night and the rabbit problem is out of control. The rabbits are tame as you like and in great numbers. It was supposed to be a recon as much as anything but i ended up s
  21. hi buddy yes it has gone to the dogs!! mainly because of the dog section guys coming in to this section and trying to ruin what is/was a very good section if not the best section on this forum! i for one have not been here for that reason! and have come to the conclusion that some of the dog section are a bunch of fuckwits who like to start arguments where ever they go on this site! call me bias! but i have sat back as a guest and watch this section go right down. mainly from members of the dog section! simply because this section is better!!!!! plus the bitching, abusive, slagging.t
  22. You wont go wrong with that rifle. I've shot .20 cal for years and wouldnt contemplate going back to .22 or .177. The rapid 12/200 is about thw only multishot rifle in that calibre, other than that you'll only get old single shot falcons like mine. I'd snap it up if i were you!
