  1. Lol! Who can say ... but he did fold his fingers up in my opinel at the vital moment?!?!?!
  2. Beware of heras fencing panels, it took less than a minute for my poxy terrier to smash his way out through that mesh! To be fair the same kennels had housed two lurchers happily up til then, suppose it depends on the dog.
  3. Don't try and blame me ... it was operator error!
  4. mine will do the same when i put fresh bedding in there kennels Eh? Not sure what you mean. The box is there all the time, door open, bed inside but they are only interested in going in it if its turned on. Whether it is scientifically proven to work or not I don't know but it seems to me to be beneficial so i'll keep using it.
  5. I have one, whether it speeds up healing or not I don't know but the dogs love it. They pay it little attention if its turned off but if you turn it on they all pile into it.
  6. I have used one a fair bit and found it very good. I think it was a pulsar digi sight, its a friends and he uses it on his fac airgun very effectively. When we use it with the dogs he uses it as a spotter off the rifle. He scans and spots rabbit etc and guides me and the dog into the best position. It means the lamp is only on for the actual run, no scanning the field or flicking on to check quarry is still there. It is good for places where you have to be a bit subtle. The only down side is the price, his was about a grand new but probably available cheaper now. I'd buy one if I had a spare
  7. Start off with small places, private stables, livery yards and such. Ask for ferreting first and do a good job, be tidy, be respectful and when the time is right (only you will know) introduce the idea of a dog for marking. Once they are used to that then its a small step to ask to try a bit of lamping, "to mop up a few that you missed ferreting". Once you have the first place the next is easier! Good luck
  8. Parker is too tall and smooth coated, otherwise he fits the bill. There are plenty of pictures on here if you search. He is unproven as a stud though, but you'd be welcome to see him at work. I'm not convinced about the cross though, I'd sooner put him back to a good whippet or small lurcher bitch if I wanted a pup.
  9. At a trade fair displaying the shepherds huts I make, the terrier set about the jrtxwhip for no apparent reason. Was a hell of a job to part them, had to choke the terrier off in the end with everyone watching. One of those moments when you just wish the ground would swallow you up!
  10. Either give her to them or ask for the other one back, I had a similar situation after having the sole survivor of a mates flock and planned to keep it with my others. They took an instant dislike to her and I had to separate them so now I have a single hen living loose in the garden and the rest in the hen run. From now on I wont be introducing single hens into a flock or replacing a flock while I have a single one left!
  11. I am extremely jealous! How are the plans coming on for November?
  12. well at least you still got him,lot of the others i read about in previous topics seem to have vanished atb Hes going nowhere, for starters hes actually my wifes dog and anyway he does everything i want and quite a few things she dosent!
  13. 21 tts, thats not a great pic of him tbh. He is very much a running dog
  14. Hes a jrtxwhippet, its not a recent pic but hes coming up 6 now so hasnt changed much in a while
  15. If im planning a trip up there i usually ring you first, just remind me then? I want to come early this season as i didnt make it last year for various reasons.
  16. If you remind me next time im coming up your way i'll drop you one off, I have far too many - i enjoy making them as much as shooting them (and im better at it!) lol
  17. Very nice, my favorite way to hunt
  18. Exactly the same has happened to me twice, once with a terrier and once with a my lurcher pup. My wife only has four chooks at a time and they are pets as much as anything. You would've thought I'd killed them myself the way she carried on!
  19. Your posts make me want to explore the North more, very different from down here
  20. What are you going to work him on over there? Its always good to hear about new quarry in different places
  21. Glad its not just me that has the disappearing dog problem
  22. Put up a pic of your labx then dusty
  23. I've been using a pair of Barr and Stroud Sahara 8x32 for the last few years and have been very happy with them but they have recently collimated (according to the distributor), or developed double vision as far as Im concerned, which is not covered under the warranty. I want to replace them, my budget is around £100 and Im looking for roof prism 8x32. What do you recomend? Thanks
