  1. My wife owns Parker, the dog Water Badger (cheers mate ) was referring to earlier, and he is the litter brother to the dog in the pic above. He is a good allround small lurcher, does everything a small lurcher should and a few things they shouldnt be able to! Im very pleased with him.
  2. At least its some kind of sighthound, could be one of those wierd crossbred toy thing, shitapoo, jug, etc I wouldnt worry too much, its not like you'll be allowed to work it much anyway!
  3. Ive booked a bitch puppy from this litter. Cracking looking pups and and parents, got to see how the parents work too. The breeder is a very genuine guy and im looking forward to picking her up
  4. This has been one of the best threads on here for ages. Well done Maltenby
  5. and also how u planning on killing a fox quickly when it could turn and bite ya ? pre ban Are you for real? If you cant handle your quarry you shouldnt be hunting it or expecting your dog to do so. I pity your dogs and your quarry.
  6. All warm and dry now, Ollie ended up being bathed and blowdryed - i knew it was going to happen as soon as i saw that ditch! The pics of WB with his "trophies" are priceless!
  7. Me and herdwick went over to some of Water Badgers ground today for a spot of ratting. The weather was foul and when we got there the farmer had put a bale stack over part of the warren but we set to and cleared the nettles anyway, breaking the borrowed strimmer in the process We let it settle for a bit and had a go at a pile of shed panels which the dogs had marked. That produced the first two of the day. We went back to the bank and tried WB's new mark2 smoker, it worked great but we were struggling to bolt anything. In the end with a lot of digging from us and the terriers we
  8. Nice one Phil She looks a lovely bitch, how old is she?
  9. What a load of PISS.Kill away and enjoy. The grey is vermin and can be killed. clachan Whether its a load of "PISS" or not, it is still the law in England and Wales. Whether or not we take any notice of it is, of course, down to the individual
  10. Its obviously illegal same as all mammals, except rats, rabbits and fox below ground to protect gamebirds, that said accidents happen so i doubt you will get in trouble unless someone saw and complained
  11. Just come back, we had four runs, caught nothing and got soaked. The rain started light enough but got too heavy very quick and there was very little out. Still, more fun than the telly!
  12. Thanks lofti, the hedgerow was a nightmare, just too early in the year but the river bank was good. Its about the only place i have access to were you can bolt to the digs and get a half decent chance of catching. Most of my ground is thick hedges, woods or other places not ideal for the dogs so its nice to have a change. My bitch is recovering from the latest in a long catalogue of disasters. She was just coming back from a toe amputation and tore a shoulder muscle She is pretty much healed, i just need to start getting her fit and try not to let her break herself again! One day i
  13. LOL!!! The only reason i didnt break Tyla is that shes already broken so stayed at home!
  14. Took my first serious ferreting trip of the season yesterday. Me and a couple of mates went planning to longnet some busy hedgerows and let my jrtxwhippet, Parker, show my friends pup the ropes. It didnt start very well, wind was blowing a gale and the cover was very thick. We did one set and the rabbits were just not bolting. I think the ferrets killed at least once but the mark was 16 foot plus in the bottom of the hedge were you could only lie down - im keen but not that keen! We finally bolted one into the longnet and my jill followerd it out looking battered. Basically we gave up
  15. We're out tonight, its pitch black already and the tree's are blowing all over the place.....lovely! assassingirl x
  16. I'm on here as Tyla, but its his misses writing - assassingirl. I know a little bit about evolution. The way it works is if there are selection pressures acting on the species it will select for animals with adaptive traits, ie the hare that outruns the saluki types will live longer and reproduce, passing its genetics on. The ones that get caught by the salukis wont breed and pass on its genes. this can be a localised event. If the predator reaction is inheritable then it can be passed on genetically. howvere, if it is not inheritable, ie its a learnt process then genetics doesnt come into pla
