  3. We ended up taking quite a big pack out at the weekend, 11 dogs between the three of us although i sent my two lurchers home early due to recurring lamemess I was severely damaged from the night before but managed to struggle through. The dogs did well and we were pleased that the ground we covered seemed to hold more game than we thought, we'd been under the impression it had been wiped out by mixy but its still got rabbits in pockets which bodes well for next year as long as its not over hunted before they start breeding. We had the .410 with us in the hope of a chance at a pigeon or phea

  5. The foresight bead has vanished from my .410 Cooey, i want to replace it but im not sure whether to get a traditional brass bead as it had before or to try on of the fibre optic ones. Does anyone have any useful experiences or reviews to share?
  6. Cheers mate, im usually out with the dogs and its easy to forget how much fun you can have shooting. It was serious weather but great sport. Hell of a lot better than work thats for sure!
  7. There were 9 inches of snow this morning so work wasnt an option. No good for the lurchers either so i thought i'd take one of my infrequent outings with the shotgun, i took my .410 simply because its just had a sling put on it and i've not had it out for ages. Ollie the terrier came too, hes really a bushing dog but can turn his hand to rough shooting too when he gets the chance. I dressed for the weather, it was freezing, and took some food and a gamebag just in case lol. We walked to the farm and arrived just gone 7am, plenty of fox tracks round the yard, in fact, they were all over the
  8. Whatever method you use for training a puppy make sure you are consistant. Inconsistancy only creates a dog that doesnt understand you and makes you look like a weak pack member that will need to be dominated! Our training starts off basic and includes things that can be forgotton to train to puppies and is difficult to train an older dog. things like retrieving a toy, not letting the pup be protective over food, clipping claws, opening the mouth (for tablets etc) and being able to examine without struggling (this has been invaluable for our other lurchers and saves us putting them under a
  9. Looks like you lads had a good day, nice pup snakes same age as mine. Maybe we'll get you and the pup out with the whole crew one day, eh Blackstaff?
  10. Glad you got the calf sorted herdwick, shame though, you would've enjoyed today. The weather wasnt too bad in the end, cold but not as bad as first thing this morning. Blackstaff - glad you got those tyres sorted, dont need a repeat of last year!!!
  11. I've been meaning to have a proper day with the ferrets for a while and had arranged to go today with herdwick, Water Badger and scrapman off here. Had to be a late start as herdwick works first thing but we were aiming to leave by 9.15. Arrived at the farm to pick herdwick up and a cow he's been watching chose that very moment to calve. We had a go at getting her calved before we went but she wasnt making it easy so herdwick decided to call the vet out and drop out of the day which was a shame. I finally get to the ground about 10.15 and we collared up the ferrets and set off. As thin
