  1. I’ll have to give it a go, I’ve had it about 5 or 6 years and it’s never been out the box, it was a drunk ? eBay purchase, I think I paid about 60 quid for it, I know at the time they were a lot more than that, it’s the same one that forestry use up at the shoot
  2. I’m after a bit of advice, has anybody on here used a pulsar digex scope, I’ve been after night vision for a while now and have always been put off by the look of them, now with this one looking like a scope with a 30mm tube it really appeals to me, It also seem to work like a normal scope and looks simple to use for a simple fella, I know someone in the trade and he has said I can have one basically without the VAT now I know this is still a very expensive unit, but is it worth it
  3. I’ll be giving them a go, they are on the rides in the forestry blocks, forestry shoot deer from them, I’m not allowed to take deer from the forestry, only the open fields around the farm, I’ll have a word with them but I’m sure it won’t be a problem using them on a night, I’ve got one of the metal frame type that seats 2 so I might put that up at the back of the farm
  4. Hahaha, how dare you, I’ll have you know I have two full time jobs and work 8 days a week just to keep my wife in the lifestyle she’s become accustomed to ? if this Coronavirus doesn’t kill me I’m sure work will
  5. Well, like daylight again last night and not a fox to be seen, looks like I’ll be baiting up and using forestry’s high seats ?
  6. Pbir L, laser Ir, they are about £125 delivered and work really well ?
  7. Nice work Dave, you did well considering the moon, it’s been like day light the last couple of nights, I’m hoping for a bit of cloud cover tonight, rabbit bashing has been put on hold to chase the gingers ?
  8. The moon last night was like day light, I went for a walk around the shoot and seen very little, one ginger as I was crossing a field, in the flash of an eye in the NV spotter it was gone, it was nice to see a good few hoppers about and I think I might have a go at them tomorrow at dusk, although the trigger was not pulled it was lovely to be out on a night like that ?
  9. I’m still here, just work has been mental this week, even had to put a full shift in today, sad times ?
  10. My plans will be to start pen repairs a lot earlier than last year to get it done before I get eaten by ?, I’ve already started by gathering up feeders, electric fence units and started to cut a few rides through some small forestry blocks, also planning a couple of new drives for next season
  11. We have a few places up here that still have rabbits in ok numbers, if you go out and get 15 or so you are doing good, it’s nothing like it used to be when 50 was an average night out with the dogs and we were getting £1.50 each for them with the jackets still on, it’s sad that I can only get rid of a couple at a time now and that I have to give all the game away, even venison I don’t mind if people want it but not so many years ago you could almost double your wages with a couple of nights out
  12. Tikka, the Sako is just a refined tikka, but I can’t tell the difference when firing them and with the money you save it would go towards a very nice scope ?
  13. The plan for tonight was to go back up the shoot to try and catch up with the foxes that played me for a fool on Friday night, but as it turned out that it would be a solo trip I decided just to have a little walk around the sheep farm. I decided to take the.17hmr with me, on arrival it was very windy and snowing, after 5 minutes or so the snow cleared leaving a very bright moon, I set off to the top fields in search of rabbits as the farmer had said he’s been noticing a fair few about, as I got myself to the top gate that separates the sheep from the wheat there it was, a fox on the muck heap
  14. Sometimes it’s just good to get out and break the cabin fever ??
  15. I wouldn’t mind if it was just one that got the better of me, but all 4 of them mugged me off ?
  16. With a bit of luck, I’ll keep at them the proper way for now and if one or two outsmart me I’ll bait up, it’s been a long time since we have had them in these numbers on the shoot, they must of had a good breading season last year, they are not much of a problem at the minute but as spring approaches we definitely want to be on top of the numbers
  17. Cracking write up with a cracking result, with a bit of luck after the weekend we’ll get a break in the weather
  18. I do enjoy a days shooting on my syndicate but most of the time I’m happy to let others shoot while I run the beaters, vermin shooting is more my thing and I’ll always have a rifle or a shotgun with me whenever I’m up at the shoot, it’s always nice to have a walk around and get to know your land, we have people in our syndicate that have been in it a lot longer than me but don’t know the land anywhere near as well as I do
  19. Cracking, do you do the munties with the shotguns, we don’t have them up here, I’m hoping for an invite for a go at them down south this year with the rifles
  20. That’s quality, give me that over the game shooting any day ??????
  21. Durham is far enough for me, once I get north of the Tyne unless they come with subtitles I’m knackered, which is odd because once you are 10 miles past Newcastle it’s like been back in England and I can understand everything they are saying to me ( even if it is just calling me a smoggy tw*t )
  22. Don’t you just have two seasons up there, 3 months of autumn and 9 months of winter ?
  23. It’s been a nightmare, I can’t remember the last time I had a week where I wasn’t wet for at least two days of the week, we definitely deserve a good spring and summer after this lot
  24. Longshanx has a spot where he’s not allowed to shoot the foxes, I think it was the first time he took me there and there was about half a dozen running around in one field, one no more the 10’ in front of us, they don’t seem bothered by people but I bet they are off like a shot at the sight of a horse or a dog
