Last one from me tonight ( I’ve got loads more Picture memories) me with robin foxer ( off that YouTube) pheasant shooting in North Yorkshire and fox shooting in Lincolnshire, happy times
-
The best bet would be claymore mines, I wonder if I can get explosives ? on my ticket for pest control ??
-
That’s what they are like with me, I’m sure the ones around my house let all their mates know “ the tw*t’s putting the gun in the car” ?
-
I’ve got one place that you will never shoot a pigeon but jackdaws and crows are mental, the only problem is they are more intelligent than me, I can turn up and the field can be black a shot later and they all bugger off to the other side of the farm and I spend all day chasing them around, but at least it keeps them off the field for a bit
-
I have no idea when this one was taken but it must of been a good while ago because I can’t remember the last time I shot Jac’s on fresh drilling’s, we are definitely missing out on these now the spring drilling’s have gone in, the bangers will be working overtime
-
I’ve never done estuary shooting, all my ducks and geese have been inland, I’ve been offered the opportunity a couple of times to pay for days as part of a team of guns on the estuary but I’m from up north and that’s against my religion ?
-
I love duck and goose shooting, it amazes me that you only need a puddle in a field and you can have some of the best shooting you will ever have, the speed the ducks come in is unbelievable and when shooting geese you would think it would be easy going off the size of them but I’ve missed a lot ?
-
Out on the geese, pest control at a place that used to breed ornamental ducks, this must of been a long time ago because Mosh looks about 12 and he’s 9 years older than me ( join in lads, let’s have a few pics ?)
-
A cracking day at the shoot, I’d say this was about 5 years ago, because the kid on the left is one of the lads I take out with the rifles now, as you can see from the other picture he’s all grown up now and in the last year of school ?
-
Something to take our minds off this mess for a little while ?
-
Fox shooting with little Hugo’s dad, looking at the crop I’d guess this was around July time out just after Christmas one year with mosh, his first brace of partridge me with a couple of teal, walked up ruff shooting
-
So as I’m under house arrest I’ve been flicking through some old and not so old pictures I have saved, trying to remember what normal life is like and I thought I’d start a new topic and put a couple up to show what we are all missing and waiting for again, hopefully you lot can add a few or a couple of shooting tails ? me and my sheep farmer mate ‘mosh’ first time I ever took him pigeon shooting pest control on the geese, I must of been in my 20’s there because the gun is an old lanber that was my first O/U a bunch of rabbits shot from the combine as the cut wheat, a really fun

I always slag it off and say it’s sh*t, but I’ve had it about 10 years and I paid about £300 for it new, I’ve never looked after it and you could say it’s my keepers gun, I always have it with me around the shoot and the problem with cycling light loads isn’t really a problem because it normally has something heavy in it because it’s used purely for pest control, It’s killed a lot of stuff from foxes to squirrels
-
Cheers mate, that’s exactly what mine does, it doesn’t do it all the time, I’ll have a look at it tomorrow afternoon ?

Two days in and I’m going mental ( new book time )

It looks like my brother is going van driving for ASDA I’m sure it’s not what he wants and the money won’t be up to much but at this time if it keeps your head above water you have to do it -
I’m going to take you up on that, I slag it of but I take it around the shoot all the time and it’s killed a lot of stuff, I really need to strip it properly, clean it and change the seals ?

That’s bullsh*t mate, they shouldn’t take you out of the 80% because of a voluntary closure, if you have filled a tax return in then you should be entitled to some help, my brother is in the same situation, he’s a self employed boarder and the three sites he was working on have all done the same, it’s looking like our dear old mam is going to have to bail him out ( not for the first time, he is sh*t with money ) -
When this is done with it won’t just be one day you can’t but the next you can, there will still be a period of social distancing and probably more restrictions in the future, one thing is certain I’ll have a different place to be at every night so will probably have to go to one and send you to another to show we are making an effort ?

Well my mate was right, I’ve been told that I’ve been put on 5 days a week and a £100 a week pay cut, starting Monday, so about 90% of the staff have been put on the government 80% and are sat at home been paid more than me, so this is the end of my IVECO career, even the missus said tell them to f*ck off and as she’s the boss that’s what will happen on Monday ? -
A mate of mine uses a SX3 and it’s very nice, I’m a big fan of the maxus, they just feel right, they sit really nicely in the hand, the shape of the stock does it for me. Failing that get yourself a Turkish hatstand and when it won’t cycle anything under 36g instead of repairing or replacing seals you can just use it to wack fence posts in ??

Cracking write up mate, good to see you are still able to smash a few chicken munchers, I spoke to the lad on the sheep farm and they haven’t had any lambs taken from the first batch, so it would seem what we knocked over before lambing has helped, the next batch starts next week, they have had live traps and other methods out over the past few weeks and nothing has turned up in them so fingers crossed as for BASC I’ve no idea why anyone would give them any money, they don’t represent the shooting community on any level, we need to support people like Charlie jacoby from fieldsports Brita

Well I think I’m on about day 8 of social isolation now and I’ve turned into a isolation alcoholic, some other good news is that it looks like I’ve just lost my mechanic job because of this bloody virus ?, turns out most of the staff have been sent to work from home or sent home on the government’s 80%, apparently I’ll be getting a phone call tomorrow saying how important I am to the company in these times and how I’ll now be put on 5 days a week ( instead of 4 on 4 off ) basic at £9.25 an hour and no shift allowance, ( big pay cut ) I’m looking forward to that phone call and hope it comes a -
Your not wrong mate, I’m sure someone will of said this before but I think this could be the end of the EU and hopefully the free movement of people, the only part of that that could be a problem is labour, I know a few people from Norfolk and this could be a major problem for their business when the are harvesting

I think this will be the start of something good for you Ben and my farmer mates, we are only a couple of weeks into this now and it has completely changed the way I shop and feed myself, I use 2 local butchers, a local fruit and veg supplier ( who has had to change because he supplied restaurants) I even have a spud and egg man, this is what we should of been doing all along supporting our local community, keep up the good work mate ?

Good to see you back on here mate, I hope your shoot comes good this season, I think the small private syndicates will be in a much better position than the commercials, who wants to lay out 10’s of thousands of pounds when so many are not willing to commit to days, one of the big worries for us is the old boys and our landlady who is well in her 70’s, I’ve got about 6 weeks before we have to make a decision if we are going ahead as once the eggs go in we are committed, I’m not to hopeful at the minute but if the worst was to happen the members will be getting told that the rent will be getti
