You were lucky it was the police and not gazza with chicken and a fishing rod ?
-
I never bother ringing the police, I know why in some cases people do because it can save a bit of bother from so called do gooders, some people ring them just out of spite, on more than one occasion people have rang the land owner when they see me and I have no problem with this, I’ve had a couple of run ins with the police, once I was stopped when leaving some ground by a traffic car, as she approached me I dropped the window and before she could say anything I explained there was a rifle in the back, the look of horror on her face was a picture, she shouted at me to stay there and ran back

I’m 99% sure it’s 1/16”, is it to heavy, even winding it down you will still only get it down to about 3 1/2lb, you can get it down to about 1 1/2lb with a JARD trigger kit, but that will set you back about £240 and it voids your warranty

I wouldn’t of thought so, unless she was a armed robber

You want to get some deet spray, ( jungle juice) I always have it in the motor, if ever I’m out with someone I cover myself in it ( don’t offer them any ) and all the flies go around them ( bugger, I shouldn’t of told you that, because I sometimes go out with you ? )

Nice work, weather permitting I’ll be out Friday night at the shoot, the traps were checked again today but still nothing
-
Your not the first to do that, at least you remembered the bolt, that was what I left at home? were the foxes around the cow fields
-
Back up to check the traps and still nothing, so a couple more hoppers from around the farm and off home, someone else can go and check them tomorrow ?
-
I’ve never seen a nightjar, last night I was watching the biggest barn owl ? I’ve ever seen hunting the barley and then watched the woodcock flighting out, like little flying pigs

Well 7 was the bag, so I’m happy with that as it’s only a small field and a couple of rides that are shootable at the minute, I seen a few roe which is always good as it wasn’t that long ago that it was very rare to see them up here, I also sat for a few minutes watching brock play fighting and chasing each other around, just the way a warm Saturday evening should be spent ?

Traps checked and empty, baited with fresh rabbit, Now just sat on an old concrete drinker at the side of the barn watching for bunnies and the foxy fence line, life is good ?
-
Oh yeah, deadly accurate fat air rifle ?
-
Two in quick succession, my old girl will be happy ?
-
Back at the shoot to check the traps and the rabbit patrol around the farm for an hour before dark, got to keep Rodger rabbit off the veg patch ?

Another run up to the shoot last night, mainly to set the traps as they have been in there current locations for a week now, it’s amazing how fast this place changes this time of year, now there is very few places to call them to so bait and wait is the only real option before the combine, with no luck on the forestry rides we moved off to a clear fell on the edge of our shoot on arrival Hugo’s dad spotted something through the thermal on the other side of the small valley ( next doors land ) it was a cub, mooching along the tree line, we then spotted a second, giving it 10 minutes scanning fo

At the distance you will be shooting foxes the .243 and .223 act in a very similar way, using similar bullet weights so wind isn’t much of an issue with ether round, at the minute I’m putting 70gn ballistic tip for fox through my.243 purely because the rifle likes them, in the past I used 58gn, as said the up side to .243 is it’s deer legal and a 90gn sp is ideal for this task

I’m still in that phase myself ?
-
My only experience with kids is other people’s, because I’m far to irresponsible to have my own, problem is these days the ones I know don’t like to be out in the fresh air for to long or are just whoppers, at least I’ve got little Hugo to show him the ways of the world, even if he’s going through his I’m going to be a little sod, just because I want to be phase ?
-
That’s quality, at least now you know he’s got it in him to do the mucky end of the job at first asking, I took one of my nephews out shooting rabbits and he back ended one into a hedge back, we went to retrieve it and he took the rifle off his shoulder, oh no my lad was my response, pick it up and I’ll show you how to dispatch it, I’m not touching it was his reply, so you are happy to shoot it, but when you make a mistake you are not prepared to put your mistake right, quickly and humanely, back to the car and off home we went ( after I stretched the bunny out ), never to come out with me aga

That’s it, shoot while your alive, sleep when your dead ?
-
???? bet you are over the moon with that mate, worth getting up at sparrow fart to get your first fox with a new rifle ?
-
RIGHT, I’m extremely envious now, I’m grounded tonight, but after looking at them two pictures I’ll be escaping tomorrow night ?
-
The .22lr is ideal for clearing them off the pond, when they are out in the fields on the other side of the ponds you can’t get anywhere near them, so that’s where the .243 does the job very nicely ?

This is the reservoir on the moor the lads I know keeper after the wan*ers descended on it over the bank holiday weekend, roads blocked with cars and sh*t left all over, no social distancing and a f*ck you attitude, it was some of these tw*t that started the fires, if you have no respect for the countryside the f*ck off back to your scruffy hole you call a home ??
