This one ready for the paving to go down, I’ve had to put 8 ton of stone in, half of that is because the original patio was laid on a bit of sharp with a dusting of cement, amateurs. On to dig out the next one tomorrow
Getting somewhere today, only problem is the paving they have chosen won’t be here until next Tuesday, so I’ve got another to prep tomorrow for the same paving and someone across the road from here also wants a price but they need to have a think about what they want because that garden is on a slope
Yeah, the belt breaks down and blocks the strainer, starving the top end of oil, my mate is seeing a couple a month in his garage, they are charging engines, no rebuilds, very expensive when they go wrong
I’ve seen a lot of wet belt failures, at least with a chain you get a warning, with the wet belt they just strip teeth, all the manufacturers are recommending you only use their oil because too many people are using the wrong oil, even garages servicing them, I would stay away from a wet belt
The 2.0d is a decent engine, it’s basically the same engine they fit in all the range and in the mini I think, but it suffers with the same timing chain issues as the 3.0d, so good service history is a must
They are decent if you are looking at them after about 2014 the 3.0d is a thirsty beast and don’t even look at the 4.4 V8, you need to over service them because they are known for timing chain issues
They are a quality car, I’ve never driven one that wasn’t nice to drive from a little A1 to an RS6, currently got a 24 plate S3 Vorsprung and it’s like driving an armchair until you put it in track mode then it’s completely off its tits, in the past 15 or 16 years between me and the missus we’ve had 9 Audi’s and 3 VW’s
A bloke I’ve done quite a bit of work for has asked if we’d do a patio at his daughters first house and as he’s paying for it we are now ripping it all up and putting something nice down
they have had the snagging lad off YouTube here and theres a list of over 150 faults, the bricky’s are here now from West Yorkshire and they have cut out and replaced over 500 bricks, this is a 350k house and the build quality and the materials they have used are shocking, this is the main reason I won’t work on sites, they are full of mongs that are only in it for a wage, no pride in what they are doing
I don’t want to sound like a dick and I’m not saying the DPF isn’t blocked but I would expect that to show some different faults, from what you said is happening I’d firstly look at the air intake side, check the MAF sensor wiring, check the inlet pressure sensor because if this has failed it would put the EML on but if it’s got oil on it could give the fault you are getting, check the inlet/ vacuum side Mc’s way with the easy start is a good way, just spray a bit of it around vacuum pipes and the inlet manifold you might see it being drawn in if not the revs will increase if any gets into the
All the type one in and wacked, blinding of soft over the top, tidied up outside so they can get in easier, lads going to do the visqueen himself so told him the best way to the corners
I’ve had them where the inlet manifold is cracked and it does exactly this and the smell is an exhaust gas smell from running rich, not a blocked cat/dpf smell, easy starts is a good call, spray it around and if you can’t see it you will notice when the revs pick up if it’s drawn in through the manifold or a split pipe
The reason it might only be doing it when it’s warm is possibly because the ecu doesn’t use the MAF sensor until it’s up to running temperature ( possibly? )another common one is if it’s got a plastic inlet manifold the have a tendency to crack and this will give you a vacuum/pressure fault
