That's some art work Glynn. I like the last pic of the Patterdale in clay. Do you ever sell any of your clay work? Thanks

Haha, you know that accent is like music to my ears, haha. Better than the accents I have to listen to now, haha. I was up around your neck of the woods yesterday, now some of them boys have accents, Tyla wouldn't have a chance of understanding some of them lads, haha.

English Bull And Their Crosses Thread.
Rebel replied to Lenmcharristar's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
The bull and terrier cross was a fairly popular cross in my area when I was a young lad. They used to call them bull n fox and they were smart looking dogs. I never saw any work, but, if i remember right? lads used to say they were either too hard or wouldn't travel. -
Sounds like ye had a good walk out. Did you find it hard to understand Jigsaw with that accent, haha.

Some great pics lads. I like the old pics as well. Below are some old family photos that I came across recently. A granduncle of mine on the left. They are walking down O'Connell Street, Dublin. That's the GPO in the background and Nelsons pillar, which is no longer there as it was blown up. Must have been in the early years of the formation of the Irish Free State? Family and neighbours threshing. My father and Grandfather.

When I was a young lad I was lucky enough to get out with a man who had a very good line of wheatens. They were fine animals and you couldn't but be impressed by them. At the time I was too young and stupid to fully appreciate what I was seeing in both ability and the foundation, maintenance and breeding of a line/family of terrier. More fool me.

Thanks for the comments lads There very good men who love their digging and hunting. Only for them I would have been in serious bother. Thanks

We had our opening meet last Sunday. A good crowd were out, men, women and children all looking forward to the day and the season ahead. The morning started slowly with no fox to be found in the first cover. We moved on to the next cover and hounds soon found. The fox brought them around the cover a few times before he left and brought the pack out into open country. The hounds were going well in full cry and pushing hard. The fox did a big circle before returning home and slipping to ground. We dug him to a nice black bitch that is made for the job. She is working well and can be

rebel you know yer stuff in fairness,I do know the man your on about, spent a few years with him....another famous road bowler was the late Dennis Scully,a neighbour and decent man,Its not as easy as it looks believe me,and any prize money is hard earned, I reckon the rule book would be a fascinating read i cant work out in my head what they would involve.....what happens when a ball go,s off the road/lane......thats where the line is drawn and thrown from again i presume ? A nice ten miler on the M25 would suit me better Gnasher, The basics of the game or score as it is cal

Gnasher, All they need is a couple of miles of tarmac, the queens highways are probably as good a place as any to play, haha. I didn't get a chance to read this yet, but it looks to be a good article, you might know some of the places mentioned? http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/another-country-another-ball-game-near-ford-motors-in-dagenham-an-irish-match-of-which-jack-charlton-knows-nothing-except-the-passion-report-by-cal-mccrystal-1422603.html

This is a very popular sport in Cork and Armagh and in other smaller areas around Ireland. I believe the Irish used to play it in Dagenham on a Sunday morning long ago. As Jigsaw said, there's skill involved in the game. You have to be strong, accurate, cute and have the stuff to throw good bowls, with the pressure of someone betting on you to win. Some of the big scores would have thousands on the stake and lads also betting on the road. My father was involved in bowling all his life, playing, administrator and referee and spent his Sunday mornings and summer evenings bowling. He got
