CCI Shotshell rimfire round.
Deker replied to mole trapper's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Come on Sprags/Compo I'm waiting for the next installment. I'll be honest, off the top of my head I don't know the answer to this one, the 68 Act still forms the basis of current legislation but there has been a bucket load of changes to it since, so if you 2 could sort it out between you it will save me looking it all up. Cheers Deker One point of interest is that under the 68 Act you did not need a SGC to buy Shotgun cartridges (or FAC) anyone could walk in off the street and buy them. -
Thanks for the advice, I thought it would be a really heavy interview type thing.....dosent sound to bad Edit> Whist I am here.....Any ideas as to how long it will take from sending the application to being told yes/no? In VERY SIMPLE terms in this country you are allowed a shotgun (SGC), the Police must show a reason why you can't have one. The FAC is completely reversed..you are not allowed one until you can show why you need/want one! VERY SIMPLE explaination. Time wise it's impossible to say and many regions have been slow this year, could be anything from

CCI Shotshell rimfire round.
Deker replied to mole trapper's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Not a stupid question at all! Its like a shotgun cartridge with loads of small pellets, as soon as they leave the confines of the barrel they spread and will potentially blow your moderator to pieces, worst case senario of course but I suspect you get the idea! Even if only one lump ever hits the mod the odds are your zero and mod are FUBAR. Cheers Deker -
I suspect he was suggesting Ballistic Tip. Boat Tail is the other end of the bullet and is meant to give long range stability. A Boat Tail will have very little or absolutely nothing to do with "over" penetration, thats to do far more with the other end, FMJ, HP, Soft Point etc etc are all available with boat tail if you dig around! I suspect you either just grazed this one or very likely couldn't find it later, its amazing how easy it is to lose a rabbit or fox when its down, and I spent about 10 minutes looking for a Roe a couple of years ago that droped on the spot.

Probably why do you want a gun and where will you be using it etc.....its not really an interview (well mine wasn't) just a chat, he saw my dogs and ferrets and understood what kind of bloke i was, its just to make sure your not a complete loon really. SGC is easy compared to FAC. The home visit will simply be to make sure you're not some sort of unstable nutter, and check your security for the SG, despite the fact that legally for up to 2 Shotguns you can use a ground anchor they will expect to see a cabinet so I strongly suggest you invest in one of those. Offer him a tea or cof

You are a brave man..try saying that on the Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control forum ...and then duck!

Sako owns Tikka and both are owned by Beretta. So the background and pedigree is good. I think too many people get wound up in this quad business...just think about it for a minute! How many people have/want or need a .22LR, a .17HMR, .22WMR and .17Mach 2. And then consider what sort of case would you have to put to your FLO for a ticket for all 4. Just consider it as a single calibre rifle, the vast majority of people buy a Sako quad as .22LR anyway. If you want another calibre at some stage by all means go for it, but then also consider the scope (as has already been said), and r

In simple terms they are a minature shotgun cartridge, but rim fire not centrefire. In the UK they tend to be used by Pest Controllers and gamekeepers, in the US they are commonly used on snakes. They tend to be low power and only very close range, they have no effect on your rifling but if you do find some or want to try them make sure you take your Sound Moderator Off first! -
Deben used to do a shotgun fitting for their Tracer gunlight range..worth checking out!

In my 12ftlb pcp,any of the heavier pellets will produce higher ftlbs readings, but in my springers the reverse is true. Deker,as you say a .22 pellet with a muzzle reading of 780FPS would be 27.02 ftlbs. if you re-read my post i said that a .22 pellet weighing 18-20grains traveling at 780fps gives you about 26ftlbs. this is the point that most experts, not me believe to be the cross over point of the formular of weight x speed = power i know full well a .22 pellet traveling at 780 fps would be giving 26-30 ftlbs as bill88 has proved. also through my own experiance has show

OK ........an answer you are not going to like! I would go as far as to say you will never STOP rats with a rifle. Control methods are, poison, trapping and a .25 Theoben air rifle or .22Rimmy with shorts or shotshell and a good cat. Using a combination of these you can wipe out the rats but it will still take a lot of doing. Using a conventional air rifle will only ever give you a bit of sport and tend to bring quite a low level of control unless you spend every hour God gives you on the case. There is nothing wrong with the ratcatcher or many other air rifles for the job of

I'm going to bed...I've got a stinking cold, that's why I'm not out shooting at the moment,...... but just had a look on the Midlanddiving.com website (first time for years) and see they do complete Air rifle packages, bottle, valve and hose...with any luck your dealer should be able to offer the same (if you need it all). Many dealers use Midland themselves anyway! Cheers Deker

For the sake of a safety (I didn't even know they didn't have one) I would not bother. The HW100 is a fine gun but it weighs a ton, you may like that but I don't, build is typically german overengineered, yes you can chuck it about but who does anyway and I don't see it performing any better than your 410. Unless there is more to this story I would stick with what you have. With regard to the pump...bin it and spend the money you would have spent on the gun buying a bottle. No idea if the connections are the same but you should get an adaptor with the gun anyway!

I have an open ticket , have been shooting for many a year and have a 50 cal+ 338 lap mag and to many smaller rifles to boot ,so thats not the issue the issue is what forces are implementing the new guidelines, and who are draging their heels. bigrifle I obviously do not know your individual situation and with regards your .50 Cal (What game is that licenced for on your ticket in this country) or .338. You may have an Open ticket but that is nothing to do with deer or deer experience.....there are plenty of people with an Open ticket but no mention of deer on them.....if you do not ha

Thanks I will give him a ring first thing see what he can do Don't forget this bit ........... Forgot...you may also find you need a connecting hose....your gun dealer and or Midland will be able to help you with this!

As far as I'm aware ALL 12ft lb PCP will do at least 40-50 shots per charge, some do (at least the manufacturers say they do) 300-400shots per charge! I have a 12L 232 Bar bottle, but if I had my time again I would buy the same size but 300bar. HOWEVER mine is running at 26 ft lb, I get about 32 shots per charge and I use it a lot. Some examples I nicked from another post. 3litre cylinder at 232 bar holds 696litres of air 3litre cylinder at 300bar holds 900 litres of air 7 litre at 232 bar holds 1624 litres 7litre at 300 bar holds 2100 litres 10litre at 232 bar holds

Call me stupid (you would not be the first) but what is this and how does it work (eroboard?? and what sort of/size of glass??). Can you use small words so I can follow please. Cheers Deker

Now I'm not sure on this one but if that was the case we would all be doing it....my understanding is that a compressor to give you 185 - 220 bar (most 12ft lb Air rifles are in that range and Daystate near the top of it), would cost a fortune, far more than a bottle....the charging equipment at my local dive centre came to more than £10,000. You do of course also need dry air, many compressors will not deliver that. Buying used bottles should not be any problem because of test requirement but remember you need an air rifle valve on it not a dive valve. Thought it sounded too easy

http://www.falcon-airguns.co.uk there is a very small picture of the magazines in the accessories section. Now, I'm not an engineer but from what I see of these AA mags you could knock up the Falcon in your sleep. Mind you they also cost a load less than the AA. If you would like to have a better look I'll happily send you one to check over if you want to PM me. Cheers Deker I like the cut of your jib...I wonder how many other people know what we are talking about...the word?

Now I'm getting confused...are you saying that an AA Field (16.2-16.4g)in my 26ft lb PCP will produce more power (ft lb) than a Bisley Magnum (21.4-21.6g), because that is not what my chrono says. 18-20grains for a .22 pellet traveling at about 780fps I haven't done the maths but it is easy to see those figures add up to be well into FAC. Edited Perhaps not I've just read it again a few times....but I still don't understand the 12ft lb either, Bisley magnum always produced a bit more power in my Falcon than AA Field when it was 12 ft lb. It is also well known that

Cheers Macnas...taken in the spirit my comments were intended....I did actually have one many moons back..it rattled, was loose as they come and to be honest frightened me to death (oh yes...it looked like a piece of farm machinery as well, wish I could remember the model), but to be fair it worked! I run 3 Berettas at the moment, so I'm a bit biased but I have to say I do like the Miroku. Whoever would have though the Japs would be able to make a shot gun? Deker
