  1. Run that by me again, can't help thinking I missed something!
  2. Sorry, not trying to mess up your poll!! Pheasant Second Partridge Fourth equal Woodcock ninth Snipe tenth, fun to shoot, lot of work to prepare for a small return! Rabbit eighth Hare seventh Venison Third Wild Boar sixth equal but a bit of an acquired taste by some Grouse sixth but overrated Pigeon Last Duck First Goose Fourth equal Squirrel Fifth
  3. Seldom more than 2, had 3 a couple of times but don't remember any more than 3! Certainly never had 6 out of one, you must have gate crashed some party there!!
  4. Daft it most certainly was ...but he wasn't the only one, I was out all last night in the wind, rain, snow, sleet and everything else the weather chucked at me, got home about 04.00 this morning, saw 2 fox all night, only got one shot off, but it counted...daft...well yes!!
  5. We have been around this area on several occasions and the bottom line is; it's what suits you (Sir)! I tend to use 6X on my air rifle, rimmy AND centrefire out in the field right up to about 200 yards, suits me and I took the heart clean out of a bunny at 179 yards a couple of months back, 02.00 in the morning, in the mist, lamping at 6X!! On the range the mag will usually go up a bit! If you like it, and you get the results, then whatever mag you are using is right for you!
  6. Several NEW members popping up here ...let me say to everyone...my last post was very strong...deliberately...if sapper was in the army (or any of the services), of any rank and in any regiment he would be trying to rip my throat out at the comments I have made!!! PaulABF I have every respect for our armed forces as I have made clear, I have considerable experience of terminal ballistic effects and have no desire to be on the wrong end of any bullet! This is one of the reasons why I am so incensed at anyone purporting to be in the services if they are not, frankly I would have expecte
  7. deker i was using the .243, with 70 grain blitzkings, and the permission is mostly hill ground with plenty of valleys thrown in for good measure. i intend setting up a few targets on it soon, for a test area i can get out to about 900 yards if shooting across one valley. I wish you the best of luck..the .243 is certainly capable of that range but it is a very very long way, I've done the 600 at Bisley with my .223 but that was really all the way for it! I've also been on the 1200 yard range with the lads but not actually shot it! Never droped a fox at nearly 400 yards like yo
  8. Vincy IF sapper is a member of the armed forces he is a disgrace and god help us all. Unlike sapper I do have some knowledge of the army and their tools and ammo! I also have the greatest respect for ALL of our armed forces, but let me clarify something..Sapper, by his own admission has a lot of firearms experience including the "L96 sniper is the one i use on the range for 7.62" Hardly anyone in the forces gets to use this rifle, it is an expensive and medium/long range sniper rifle. The only way you get to play with one of these properly is to work your way up the ranks shootin
  9. An "open ticket" does not mean you (or he) can shoot just anywhere, the wording on the license will say something to the effect of " may shoot such and such callible at such and such quarry on any lande deemed suitable by the chief firearms officer in that force area...... ....Needless to say permission is also needed. ATB SA ...you are a little confused there, an OPEN FAC does give you the authority to shoot anywhere you consider appropriate, as long as you have permission! That is the whole point of an open fac, the chief officer of police does NOT have to deem the land su
  10. Home Office Firearms Law Guidance to Police 2002 Exemptions from the requirement to hold a certificate Shot Guns 1968 Act Section 11(5) of the 1968 Act allows an individual, without holding a shot gun certificate, to borrow a shot gun from the occupier of private premises and use it on those premises in the occupiers presence. The presence of the occupier is normally taken to mean within sight and earshot of the individual borrowing the firearm. Rifles 1968 Act Section 16.1 of the Act enables a person to borrow a rifle from the occupier of private premises and t
  11. and "some" people join this site and invent little stories as well. I will be the first to offer any advice I can to anyone who is serious and asks for help! I don't exagerate, I don't take the piss, and I don't wrap things up in cotton wool! The way you fill in the FAC application may well effect the outcome, you will present an image as soon as they read it, spelling IS important. TRUE, I didn't say you can't get a FAC if you can't spell FN don't make ammo, only guns, RG has been used exclusively by the British army for years in 7.62 and 5.56 (except when they nick some dodgy Ru
  12. Some shooting, impressive by any standards, what were you using?
  13. The original 391 was called the Urika! Gold has better engraving (virtually none on the ordinary 391) and higher grade wood, the ordinary 391 Urika and the Gold are identical otherwise. Mine is the Gold, got it about 5 years ago, daft dealer threw a complete wobbly on the price, rude to say no when he told me how much he wanted. Just seen 2 of them in a dealer about 15 miles from me "USED" and still £30 more each than I paid for mine new! Love the Gun, hate the cleaning job!
  14. Hi Deker,I am obviously not in your league(moneywise)and, that was the reason to go for a second hand Remmy that I could in the future(as and when I can afford it)add the odd modification. As I said though,as it is at the moment I am VERY happy with it..................Martin. Nothing to do with money, the T3 Lite and Remmy 700 are available at very similar prices, and as I said the "Remmy 700 is a cracking gun anyway" It was only the fact it did not have a detachable mag or I would probably have bought one myself (just hate that)!!
  15. DS There are a number of Hornet bullets that may well "disintigrate" on contact but there are several that will not, the Hornet is available I believe between about 400-750ft lb with a considerable variation in performance and terminal ballistic effect! The .22 Magnum, is correctly known as the .22WMR (Winchester Magnum Rifle) and it too, is available with some bullets that will "disintigrate" on contact but there are also some that will not. The .22WMR will hardly ever "ping" or bounce any more than any other round. The .22LR (Long Rifle) in just about all it's forms, is the famo
  16. Shot Gun CERTIFICATE! Muntjac .22Rimfire is NOT approved for ANY Deer As a first grant you are also unlikely to get it certified for Fox! What Centrefire calibre were you considering? Any military background will help BUT will NOT get you a FAC in it's own right..you will have to put a case.... The above is NOT a case. What 7.62 rifles are you using and is the ammo still FN or are you using RG now? What weight of bullet do you use in the 5.56? dint realise that i was being marked on my spelling and yea i know that i cant use .22rimfire for deer, hence the question about th
  17. So are Beretta..strange you should not mention them when you are using their logo!

  19. I've not come across or heard about any specific problems, perhaps others have and may respond. Unless the action is VERY heavy or you use particularly light or some low recoil cartridges, cycling "smaller" cartridges (length) should be easier! That's about the extent of my knowledge of these, so hopefully someone else can tell you more!
  20. Looks good, I'm sure it will reap rewards. BUT, don't leave your gun (or ANY gun) leaning on a tree/fence etc like that, it will only lead to disaster!
  21. Hi Remmy It's going very well thanks, never knock them over in huge quantities but always steady...and we still have to the end of the month down here for ALL the Does!!! The English may well pay for the Scots National Health, Pensions, and Parliament buildings but at least we are allowed to shoot a bit longer than you Scots! Mind you, with that Remmy and Scope of yours I suspect you could shoot from Scotland across the border into England and extend your seasons a bit!
  22. Mark The more you go on about this reloading game the better it sounds, but I struggle with my interest levels about it, and time. For us sad people who have no idea about reloading, reasonable Hornet cost potentially 50p or more per pop around this way. Factory stuff can be bought (if you know where to go) from about..... .22LR 2.5p HMR 18p WMR 14p Hornet 33p .223 14p FMJ 18p HP 22-250 40p .243 35p .308 27p 7.62 20p I'm not suggesting that all this stuff is match quality but it does for many of us, hence not a massive interest in reloading around some
  23. It is an interesting arguement by Martin about buying a gun he is not that happy about so he can buy/make all sorts of modifications on it. It's an argeument I have heard many times for many things, not simply guns, but I have never quite understood it, I always buy someting I like that does the job, don't see any logic in buying something and saying it will be ok after I have spent a load more money on it and made X Y Z modifications. Having said that the R 700 is a cracking gun anyway, and available in a lot of variations. I understand some may be available with a magazine now, or a m
  24. I have all sorts of reservations about ANY movement of a scope. There are meant to be mounts that clip on and off and "keep" their zero but I would not trust ANYTHING, especially if you are shooting at any distance! In my book, if you breath heavily on the scope check the zero!
  25. Not got one and never used one BUT, seen, felt, touched and played with them, this range has done a lot for Webley, arguably saved/revived the name and brought them back to the forefront (who owns who now?...AGS ring any bells). Don't know this specific one but most, if not all their range is Turkish, nothing necessarily bad about that, and in principle their guns do seem to offer "reasonable" quality at "affordable" prices. For the starter or occassional shooter who wants a new gun without spending a fortune a good buy. If you are happy with a "used" gun, spend the same money on a b
