    new air gun

You will struggle to get an answer as the question is actually wide...and everyone has a different opinion. My choice....Rapid 7 Mk11 in .22 for what it's worth. DON'T get a .20...it was introduced to give you the BEST of .22 and .177....... BOTTOM line is it gives you the worst of both, doesn't fly as fast or flat as .177 and doesn't hit as hard or make as big a hole as .22.....and forget .25 unless you want a dedicated Rat gun!!
  2. You are talking different things and the answer will be different for each individual...the Weirauch is almost certainly the best built...typical overengineered/over weight german technology...probably last forever! Theoben (the company) has undergone a number of changes over the last few years, not all for the better, product wise! AA has also been bought by NSP Engineering (few years back now) but MY choice would be AA...but NOT 200, the 410!!! Each to their own!!! What is the best...define BEST
  3. The tin in the picture says FIELD...these are the domed pellet...AA Hunter is the pointed one!!
  4. Each to their own "and why not", but this is a personal project and if you can find anywhere and anyone to do the work then you are presumably reloading as well, ATB, I'd be very interested to hear how you get on!! Strange though...in simple terms the Hornet sits somewhere between the .22WMR (300-350ft lb) and the .22 centrefire range (900+ft lb) Do you actually have a real need for this calibre and power or is this something you just want to do.....? I'm curious because whichever way you want to look at it the Hornet is on the demise, even though it certainly does seem to have a u
  5. Try an old bicycle inner tube cut to size, as big a diameter wheel as possible, not a dinky little kiddies bike There are a number of propriatory sleeves available as well!!!!
  6. yer thanks yer i see it on there site earlyer but where iv got only hotmail email it wouldent let me send them a email .. Problem with this sort of thing is simply that it is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it, and you will never know how much that is until it goes up for sale...it's all very well someone saying it's worth £5 or £5000000...when they put their hand in their pocket and show you the folding you will get an idea what its worth!!!

    Heron....

No idea what heading to put this under so thought I'd try here. Out yesterday on some land and the first thing I saw on arrival was a Heron strolling around the chickens pen, turns out after talking to the owner later in the day the Heron is out Ratting!!!! The Heron has only just turned up but is known at the neighbours land for the same thing....apparently grabs the rat and heads over to the pond to drown it, then..down the throat!! This Heron is some animal.....it also squares up the the owners Jack Russell by spreading it wings making a sort of hissing sound and charging......
  8. It's all about self control...but the more shooting you do the easier it gets, there is always another day!!! Pellet wise, they will all fly differently, only you can find the one that suits your gun/your application/your need, best! You will find domed pellets give you the best accuracy!!
  9. Scopes become very personal and what you should get is what YOU want/need ..not what anyone else says.....what are you using at the moment....does that not give you some idea what to get??? ....and why IR...you target shooting in the dark????
  10. Scope works fine, is a quality piece, and is a credit to John, my problem was only ever with the reticle, Boone & Crocket. Mr L was interested so moved it straight on to him, worked well for everyone!! Every scope I have is Mil Dot and that's the way I have decided to keep it!!
  11. No...but they are very different animals and the 452 will have the edge, but hardly noticeable. !
  12. Is it April 1st already.....Grim...what are you doing, the skirt helps to seal the barrel and keep the power up, extra uneven barrel contact this way, flight pattern a joke, pellet almost guaranteed to tumble, and what's the accuracy like 6" out of the barrel!! Not to be recommended in any way!! Other than that probably great!! there was an article in airgunner or something which did a test of loads of hollow point (and backwards pellets) and im pretty sure they found the backwards superdome fairly accurate, maybe im dreaming though! dont knock it till youve tried it!!

  14. On the whole you will find 17g groups better than 20g but you need to decide your use/quarry/distances and what your gun likes!! Mine performs best for me/my requirements with 17g Hornady V-Max and Federal V Shok.....Winchester OK...CCI????..Remington not great, (strange as I like their .22LR Yellow Jackets) but all rifles different!! (Handy..... as my local has V-Max and it's the cheapest as well)
  15. http://www.djsproducts.com/ Take a look...if you fancy anything I may be able to help a "little" on price!!
  16. NO, next to no difference in performance!! They are rim fires, and heavy barrels are not required for hunting...if you want a heavy barrel then fine, and some do, down to the individual but I see no point in lugging round an unnecessarily heavy rifle for hours...down to the individual!!
  17. WHAT THE HELL???? What do you mean interesting to see me back?? I have never been away I have only been a member for 3wks!! I think you must have your wires crossed mate!! Must be mixed up then>>> Do you know what a vasectomy is? Usually performed by a snipper!!
  18. Iv used a pump action and that was a pile of wank to load.. i fought semi`s and pump actions you load the same Can be similar..depends on make and model but are you talking about "loading" or "cycling"????
  19. Don't know but HP is what you want..you may need to try different sorts. Also remember it makes a major difference what it hits, at what angle and what speed as to how it expands! 12ft lb HP pellets are not well know for doing a great job of expanding, they are also not very accurate on the whole either! Now...a nice soft 40g Sub Sonic Lead HP .22LR can end up looking like a mushroom and do massive penetration damage!

    magpies

They are shrewd, cunning, careful and twitchy ..they are also almost universally hated....I have a lot of time for them simply because they are VERY GOOD at what they do, so you have to admire them at the same time!!! A Larsen will help but they are very difficult to attract and keep within range, listen to what others have said as well, keep still and quiet and out of all sight, and keep your fingers crossed.......oh yes...if you do get one leave it where it is, don't rush out and get it, odds are others will turn up to find out what the f**k has happened so a chance of more
  21. Hi All Thanks for all the comments, to be honest I know little more myself yet, trying to be as helpful as possible but also keeping a low profile, as soon as I get any developments I'll let you all know. I am truly grateful to many for comments of support, PM's of support and help, and offers of other land to pop over to, I always knew there were some top people her but I feel genuinely humble....THANK YOU!!
  22. EEEERRRRRRRR....actually it's the coldest part of the body, the nuts need to remain cooler than the rest of the body...that's why they hang around outside
  23. There is a lot of stuff out there, fingers, toes and head are the important areas, if you can keep these warm the rest of you will be ok. Most gear carries silly price tags, and all but arctic thermals will be pretty useless after a full day of frost and wind, I've had days when my eyes were almost frozen closed with the mist and freezing temperatures! Keep moving if you can as well, often difficult when the ground is frozen and every step you take sounds like a thunderclap of breaking frost and ice and the quarry is tucked up warm somewhere else anyway!!
