  1. i would love to own a gun shop down the road from you no realy just a bit of fun i tried to justify overlapping calibres for years, this comes from a guy that had 16 centrefires, until finally i just acceped the fact that i liked rifles! i'll give you an example i stalked hinds early one morning, got 10 with my 243, close enough to the house to get home tidyup and have something to eat, went out after lunch, for a wander wih the 222 nothing planned, but spied a close bunch of beasts, got in nice and killed 14! still needed all my other rifles though! It's what I do..
  2. NEVER had a rangefinder...But I do find them useful when out with others who have them, let me know how it perfoms, I may just have to bite the bullet ....Cheers
  3. MTC Viper 4-16x50 plus my Leupold VX-III 4.5-15x50 I'm in the market for a new scope (or 2) ...talk to me John..PM probably best.. Cheers
  4. I will try and get some 40grn tomorrow and some balistic tips if i can just to see which are better iv been waiting weeks for it to come in and cant wait to get it out in the field i payed £17 100 for the federal arcpest Unfortunately ammo is a bit of a problem ...the dealer I bought the gun from didn't have any and my normal ammo supplier didn't have any...years since I fired a WMR so I need to try and find some different makes to try myself.... if I can!! Take a look ....http://www.cci-ammunition.com/ballistics/rimfire.aspx..hit the "Detail" to give you some bal
  5. Knowing someone is always going to help..but the law is the law, an FEO in not going to bend it... I have got the local deer keeper to show me and help me with the shooting. He has got a 22lr and he said he would help me out. A deer keeper with a .22LR Sounds like he needs someone to help him!!! If you can show reason and need and all the other legal/medical bits come together it should be ok...but I'm a little surprised..if you know the FEO so well why don't you just ask him!!
  6. Hi Deker i picked up my .22WMR barrel today going to zero in tomorrow did you shoot yours in? i think i will have to as the only ammo they had was Federal Premium 30 grn copper coated by the look of it arcpest Bad terminology I'm afraid...new to me, it is a used CZ American (proofed in 2003, the first used gun I have ever bought) spent the first night cleaning barrel action and woodwork, after that it looked like a real bargain, been so busy I have had to zero it on the lamp...shot about 50 rounds of 40g CCI so far and ..IT WORKS!!!! The 30g is a bit faster, but doesn't ca
  7. Not used one for ages but got the right deal on a new one on Tuesday...been out zeroing it and hunting the last couple of nights......just don't understand why everyone is dumping them and going HMR...I have .22LR, HMR and WMR, I have a use for them all, but there is more than a little satisfaction with the grunt of the .22WMR in comparison with the HMR. A 40gHP does deliver a real thump in comparison with that little 17g HMR.....don't get me wrong...I am not knocking the HMR... BUT.... don't write off the WMR (it's doing well in the US) ...think about that next rimfire a little carefu
  8. Something like this IS about the detail...the police will want to know everything and will make a decision on the information available...but in this society a lot more people do/have suffered from depression than many would think..and a lot of them have a SGC/FAC!!
  9. Well..not that much I haven't tried now...just got a SAKO mod (NOT the sak.. SAKO) .... the difference between everything I have got/tried in terms of sound moderation is minimal...and I would not even consider £125 for the wildcat after hearing a pals (he is really p***** off as well).... .............but each to their own!! Frankly I'm fed up...SAK on everything now..nothing else worth the trouble or money, the difference is so small!!
  10. Krank is the UK importer of PRVI ammo...if that is what you mean then the PRVI stuff is good in .223/.243/.308...not used any .222!!
  11. Deker

    what scope?

Curious why such high magnification on an air rifle...I would definately go for one of the lower power versions!!
  12. I'm sure it is very good but even if it was £20 I have no use for a 12.5-50 scope!! Would be very interested to read a review from the first THL member to get one!!
  13. I have optilock on one of my Tikkas and Sportsmatch on the other.......... Sportsmatch...£22 Oplilock....£90 No contest as far as I'm concerned, Sportsmatch are better and much cheaper......Optilock are a P*** Take http://www.sportsmatch-uk.com/to48c.htm No adapter needed for the Harris, attaches to the front stud on the T3!!
  14. Good going..my lad's not a fan of the pigeon either!!
  15. Its finding the bugger! Guntrader.co.uk Good place to start...guns for sale section!! Cheers guys. looking now. Im a lefty. not many lh .223's on there. do you think they refere to lh if the bolt is on the left? I dont mind the bolt on the right but the stock must be ambi or l/h. im a lefty mate but i perfer the bolt on the right you can keep looking through the scope when on bipod then and just recock with the right hand stocks like on the 700 remmy and winchester mod 70 which i have are ambi anway i would go for a mod 70 winchester there undera
  16. I'm not that convinced the post was knocking all the aids available....just trying to make the point of fieldcrafts,.....and at 1800 metres the target will tend to give you time as they don't know they are in the crosshairs!!
  17. I think the list is £33 or £35..more if proofed...whichever way you look at it the wildcat is not a contender!!!
  18. Jackson Rifles suggest 10,000 rounds out of an HMR, how close did you get???
  19. That's why so many of the tarts on here rate the 22-250 as a great fox round...anything from about 50-250 yards just aim and shoot!!
  20. Its finding the bugger! Guntrader.co.uk Good place to start...guns for sale section!!
  21. Foxes can actually help some landowners, at the stables, liveries and Stud farms they help to keep the rabbit down (which dig holes and horses break their legs in)...BUT BUT BUT they are a big problem on the whole to most landowners and if you clear the land where they cause a problem you have to clear it next door as well or they just come back....No such thing as a fox in an area where he isn't causing a problem..they are not familiar with man made boundary's, they move around, especially if you have just removed the resident fox!!
  22. My FAO has one for sale, 200 rounds, 56mm s&b scope, good price. OK...it's a cracking round, BUT..how much is ammo, how easy is it to find, how much choice do you have..do you need it over EVERYTHING else commonly available and WHY is he selling it??? 200 rounds and a good price I wonder why??? Not trying to be funny but there is usually a good reason why people are selling at a "good price", I run a selection of air rifles, rimfires, centrefires and shotguns, I run my own Game and Vermin Control Company, I am Secretary of a Home Office Fullbore Club at Bisley and a Deer M

  24. Away from the norm of calibres there are plenty of very good ones..problem is they tend to be few and far between, ammo choice is limited and expensive and gun resale (if you ever can) is appalling..... 223WSSM is very limited...I have to ask just what is it that draws you to this calibre??
