Can't remember 100%, certain game and Hare have strange historic restrictions...but still in force!! Hopefully someone else will clarify everything and remind me!!

As you say the Ruger has "been around", and I can't deny it does the job...but not for me.... I currently own 3, CZ rimfires, .22LR, .17HMR & .22WMR, and just bought one for my lad ...so....you want to guess????

Colour does not seem right for Walnut, although grain "could" suggest Walnut! Most likely Beech..... but a hell of a good one if it is!!! LEAVE it alone!!! ive stripped it and its more like walnut ...is walnut more dark in the grain as this is... It's very difficult just looking at a picture...and grain/colour does vary on all wood...but to be honest the more I look at it I think I would go for Walnut! Beech is a very light wood and is most commonly stained to darken it..if you have stripped this and it is "DARK", it is unlikely to be beech. Beech is also a d

I have a personal contact who will do it for £50 all in...VERY GOOD! But doing it through a dealer (without proof) £100 would be pretty fair!! -

Been around a while but it still "early days" for the 3.5inch!! Sure, there is a use, but limited, biggest I have is 3" and I see no reason to get larger, especially with the prices being a joke...but never say never!!

has enyone removed the varnish from there stock
Deker replied to ferreterwithnets's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I have NEVER seen a Walnut stock laminated/varnished/laquered that looked great, no matter what the look/grain they all look better oiled!!! IMHO!!! -
I have asked for a report on the massive failure of the original barrel/chokes from Edgar Bros and they have declined to supply information, for what I can only suspect to be commercial reasons!! The reason for the failure is simple, and as you state "guns that cut corners on finishing"..the quality control and tolerances of manufacture on this gun are appaling...I have been using multi choke shotguns for a very long time and I am well aware the choke "can" become lose and the importance of keeping it tight. The Escort choke was properly fitted, appropriate size (1/2 with a medium lead lo

Without being funny, this will also show YOU, wether this is what you really want to do and if you are cut out for it...I know several people that can put hole on hole at 500 yards but when it comes to shooting a bunny at 30 yards they miss!!! ATB

Thanks, I will be using them in a pcp only for short range fun obviously, lighter than pile drivers, my main pellets are between 6.9-10.5 grain. 9 grain max in a springer and thats pushing it, you could end up with a broken spring. Broken Spring????? What leads you to believe this, the heavier the pellet and the better the fit up the barrel the less chance you have of damaging a spring...and to be honest, I don't think I know anyone who has ever "Broken" the spring!!!

Hi Dwighet....You can't legally use lead shot on a duck even if it lands in your back garden!! But you can legally shoot it with a rifle with a lead bullet...funny old world!!! (England & Wales) im sure it is not legal to shoot waterfowl with a single projectile.. to do so for pest control i think you need a special licence... Can you show me the legislation please!!!

Currently in the Cabinet their sits a .. Beretta.. 391 Gold Game Silver Pigeon3 Game 686 Sporting Special and the 303 which my boy loved was recently sold!!! My lad is used to all these, but Dad bought him something for himself, was looking for a sensibly priced "starter" gun to get him on the road!! £1000+++++ Beretta will always stack up better than £299 Turkish, but you still have every right to expect the Turkish to work and be safe!!!

Seems to me you have had a lot of good advice from several helpful people here, perhaps try and look out a local rifle club and try to get some experienc/advice/practice there. You will find the vast majority of shooters/clubs are happy to help and advise on not just the shooting, but glass, ammo, legalities etc etc etc..you may even make some contacts to take you out in the field. I think you may have worked out by now getting a FAC these days for anything, let alone vermin control, is not that easy, every time you jump one hurdle there seems to be another in front of you!! PS.

Chap...lots of people have Moderators an thier BSA/Gamo spring guns...BSA/Gamo actually supply them with several!!! The noise is not just the spring, they do help, and overall power reduction from most on a 12ft lb gun will be very small!

From a 12ft lb gun.........Pigs jumping logs come to mind!!!!!

Lol!! Buy a pack of rockets and leave it at his door just to see him blow his top..! I don't know of any in that bracket. But the H&N Silver Point (11.8gr) and H&N Rabbit Magnum (16.85gr) are quite good. Though I'm not sure how they'd perform in a 12ft/lb even at short ranges. Try the Crosman Premiers in 10.5gr. A friend of mine swears by them. Valid argument. But Air rifles, I feel are more fun. Also, for hunting, its the challenge of stalking to get within range that makes it more interesting. And backyard plinking for hours on end. But the biggest attraction is how

The reason is fine but you will have to justify it, as said that will require you showing suitable land, with a suitable problem, over which you have legitimate authority to shoot the particular calibre you have requested!! Odds are, if it is granted, you will only be able to shoot on the land specified...NO other!!!

They are all unlucky when foxdropper is about!!

Can't say for sure but my eyes are not what they used to be and I end up with a good few twists on the bell end, only one I had a little trouble with was a Simmons Whitetail Classic, could only just about focus that...shame as it was a good VFM scope but had to go!! Not had a problem with anything else, looked through a lot over the years!! What scope are you using at the moment???

It's at times like this I have to sit back and consider the apparently very fortunate position I am in, I have an assortment of FAC air rifles, rimfires and centrefires (and shotguns as it happens). They all have moderators, expanding ammo (and very acceptable quantities as well), rifles are for target, zeroing and ALL forms of hunting/vermin control and on an Open FAC. Even my lad is bogged down with restrictions with his new FAC and he is a FULL member of a Home Office approved rifle club and has me, and all my land and business jobs as well...life is very tough these days on the whole g
