  1. Bryan3....I think anyone who has been around this site a while is well aware of my view on boresnakes...but if there is any doubt...... Boresnakes were originally developed for a quick clean of SHOTGUNS in the field until the job could be done properly....the marketing people have done a brilliant job on them and for some reason a large part of the world now thinks they are God's gift and all you need for any calibre.......WRONG!!!! ....and take the Mod off before you clean the bore!!
  2. Trouble with the T3 Lite is that the gun is only light(ish) simply because there is no weight in the Butt...hang anything off the end of the barrel and it gets VERY front heavy .... As you may have seen I have had a hell of a job getting some balance into mine..it has cost me a fortune...the shortcut is simply to putt 6-8 ounces of lead in the butt. This is a well known issue to GMK and it was them that first suggested to me to get some lead in the butt!!! Problem with this is, that you have then virtually defeated the whole point of buying a Lite to start with. My T3 Hunter has n
  3. Thanks Decker I am sure I will enjoy it - I am now certain that I will be using the gun for clay target shooting so hopefully it will prove to be the best choice. I have spotted a very nice Beretta 20 gauge field gun in 28" barrels and although I am not in a position to purchase it at the moment it is on the wish list - but then I guess the decision will be whether to go for the 20 gauge or the 12 gauge field in 28" barrels - this would be for dedicated walk up work in the field. The person at Beretta who fitted me for the sporter has heaps of experience and the fit of the gun feels very smo
  4. The answer to your original question is 100% the field, gun...you have bought the wrong one if the details in your first post are accurate, in addition it also sounds like 30" barrels are too long for you if you are taking 18mm off the stock...how tall are you??? AND, the extra weight...which may not sound much....takes it's toll at the end of a long day!! Any shotgun can be used for any purpose and I hope you enjoy it and it works...but the wrong choice!!!
  5. Showin off again. What scope you got on there Deker? That group was shot with this setup, scope was a Hawke Varmint II 4-16x44 which I have now sold to another member of this site...and I don't get groups like that every day, more than happy with a thumbnail group usually.
  6. The 17g ballistic heads all come out of the same factory, so the only...VERY SLIGHT difference, is the loading and cartridge case...can't say I have found any much difference between any of the 17g...only tried CCI 20g HP and it was nowhere near as good as 17g!!!!
  7. There isn't one, Ive never had a problem, certain shoots where they have their head so far up their **** may not like it, but then again I have no interest in going to a clay shoot where this attitude exists, I clay shoot for fun, not for the stress of some prats!!!
  8. Totally agree and I tell this to lots of my landowners, but round the chickens/ducks/geese and often round the stables, etc where they have a habit of giving the dogs mange, the fox is a pain ...... it's these close type situations where the .22lr is a gem for many reasons, centrefires are bad news here!! Other than digging, I'm not aware of any crop damage the fox does, perhaps I have missed something over the years!!
  9. As above, all regions have their own way of doing things, if you want it opened up ask!!!
  10. There are plenty of good airgun repairers ...google and you will find them.....but if it is a UK manufactured gun seriously consider sending it back to the manufacturers. I get Falcon to do all my work on the Falcon and just had cause the send a BSA back for service and the whole job cost £65 including carriage...the manufacturers are not "necessarily" as expensive as you may think!
  11. what about if it was over 20yrs ago? for an F.A.C regards davy Davy All convictions MUST be declared on the forms, even daft 30mph speeding convictions, one thing that will count against you is NOT declaring all convictions...they do check...they also do a criminal records check on the people you use for references!! The police still look at this in a sensible way, they understand the "exuberance" of youth and if you have been clean for a sensible amount of time the odds are everything will be fine. Not necessarily so for a teenager applying for an FAC with an ABH co
  12. You say that, but with the 22 baffles in, I rate it quieter than the Jet Z I have, and it does/did a good job on the .204, too. You on Andrews payrole??
  13. If you make Home Brews you can do very nearly whatever you want, but what makes you ask specifically about a 22-250 sub, why not a .223 or .243, etc, etc ...seems a slightly strange question and, the resultant cartridge would only have a very limited use. "Are they any good" ......at doing what??? The primary purpose of a 22-250 is to fly fast and flat and hit hard...that doesn't happen in a sub version!
  14. Probably about a AA410, AND a HW100, and a couple of Sound Mods, Bipods and Scopes, and then a load more on top...Far too much ... just got silly, like I was not going to be beaten, but my pocket took a right beating!!! sorry deker couldnt resist, thats a few bob that lot One of those projects where you keep wanting to stop but think I've come this far, so a bit more, then a bit more, etc...now the ****** refuses to eject properly.....completely unrelated, but yet more expense...and I bought the rifle brand new too!! Funny old world, I have the Tikka T3 Hunter in .243 and
  15. This has been done to death in all sorts of ways, a .22lr is VERY capable of killing a fox stone dead in the head/neck or heart/lung. A 40g .22lr HP sub peels back like a mushroom, punches a massive hole and generelly imparts all it's energy (stays in)...YOU would not get up after being hit in the right place with this, so lord knows why anyone thinks a fox would!! Anyone who says it isn't capable, either can't shoot straight, hasn't tried it or just reads too much off the internet! A .22WMR is even more capable. BUT, as always you have to be sensible with your ammo and ran
  16. Why open sights???? Fast target aquisition perhaps but plenty of short, wide telescopic sights, and this option will give you a MUCH bigger rifle choice......but as a brand you will not go far wrong with a CZ, an initially get a Bolt Action not a semi!

  18. Yep..it needed the weight reduction up front on my gun, and has made no difference to sound reduction that I can tell!!
  19. General suggestion from Andrew Banner is up to and including .243 nothing to tell between the Full or Compact version. I did have the full length P8 on my .223 T3 Lite to start with and converted it to a Compact, certainly didn't seem any louder, but definately lighter!! Apparently the .308 will benefit slightly from the full length but all 3 of my centrefires including my .308 have the Compact version. The P8 is NOT the best sound reducing moderator anyway, but it works ok for me and is very easy to strip/clean etc! The Compact is noticeably lighter than the full length, I did weig
  20. Ok chaps....difficult this perhaps but I have recently been offered a Deer Shooting job on a RAF/RN/MoD chunk of currently used high security land. Basically a military helicopter repair base. The powers that be had no problem with me shooting, but would not permit their own military to do the job. They were advised upfront that if I acceped the job after my site survey I would be running the base whilst I was shooting and they would do what I told them, they agreed, they even said they would close the base if I wanted...took me a bit by surprise....so anyway...first point, you certa
  21. More than 2 years effort, 5 different scopes, 2 different scope mounts, 3 Sound Moderators, an original threading, a subsequent cut and thread and now 6 ounces (about 150g) of lead in the Butt (and pleased don't ask how much money)...the T3 Lite is brilliant...best balance of all my centrefires and still around half a pound lighter then my .243 and .308..... ...but now it's decided it's not very happy about ejecting spent cartridges, extracts fine, just decides to leave the empty sitting on top of the magazine.....
  22. All you need to do is look up your local clay shoot and you will find thousands of spent shotgun cartridges they are eager to get rid of...likewise find your nearest Rifle Club/Range and go collect as many as they will let you have!!!
