  1. I work on a garden nursery and can assure you they do. Rabbits teath never stop growing so they wear them down by gnawing everything insight That will be oversize rats , rabbits are not well known for gnawing fruit trees, only small ones or saplings perhaps, I do work for a BIG Plant nursery keeping down their rabbit population, they very rarely cause any issue to trees/fruit trees but a lot to the plants and shrubs!
  2. Thanks everyone...seems mirrored Perspex may be a solution!
  3. Not that I can find, they all want silly money! Is it just me, I can recall stacks of mirrors in the DIY stores all shapes and sizes £10-£15 (yep, cheap (and nasty) but fine for what I want). They just don't seem to exist anymore, everything starts £40 and some skyrocket, I just need a smallish, simple, cheap, rectangular mirror, with holes in the corners.
  4. I really could do with some help here please. I'm after a cheap bathroom mirror, frameless, (bevelled if you like but not worried) for the wall. 4 screw holes (not 2), or none, and I'll get mirror fittings. Size max 18 x 12" (46 x 30 cm), Min 15 x 10" (38 x 25cm), it will be mounted landscape fashion not portrait. Now this sounds simple, but they don't seem to exist, I have scoured all types of shops and the web, apart from the fact I'm really struggling to find anything close, the ones I can see are silly money, whatever happened to the days of walking into the DIY store and finding stacks
  5. What rifle, what application, what distances? I have two, one of the last version and one of the latest version Sidewinders. The new is definitely better, but both are perfectly adequate without being exciting, they are not light thought! Personally I think the RRP is too much, but there are always deals to be had. Never owned a Viper!
  6. .....or in your shed!
  7. As already said, Google is your friend. Also remember Remington actually do a detachable magazine version of the 700, so OEM parts are available, I'm not sure of the work involved to fit to a floor plate version though!
  8. Target shooting is about the search for perfection, odds are you will never get there, all be it 25 or 1000yards. Whilst there is always external competition the main competition is with yourself. If you get bored trying you need another sport!
  9. Of course its possible, and in the right situation/circumstances not that difficult. I let go 10 shots from my Magtech 7022 in 1.7 seconds at 100 yards Bisley a couple of years back, they were all on the black and most near/in the Bull.
  10. I am yet to see any case put by anyone for a NEED for anything more than a CZ for field use, some just want pretty wood etc., and are prepared, in some cases, to pay well over double the cost of CZ. I also don't understand heavy (varmint) barrels for virtually any situation in the field, there is no accuracy advantage, just a heavier lump to carry around, but it's down to the individual. Spending more than a CZ costs will give you no advantage of accuracy, reliability, repeatability, etc in the field, I have never heard anyone dump their CZ because they wanted something more accurate o
  11. Any .223 ammo will stop a fox easily if you put it in the right place, even FMJ. What distance are you finding/shooting most of your fox, it they are all 50-150 yards then stick with a 100 yard zero!
  12. You can blow a rabbits head off with a .308 and leave it very edible, or put a .243 V Max or .223 V Max into it and end up like this! Effect is down to ammo, placement and distance!
  13. Daft, I shoot more foxes with my rimfires than I do with my centrefires, and the HMR is fox suitable according to the new Home Office Guide!
  14. What we have here is experimentation/limited choice. Even your .22lr is perfectly capable of stopping rabbits at 200 yards. If I'm off out and know to expect my quarry at 200 yards then I do not reach for my lr, HMR or WMR, but it's business, I have tools for the job, so I use the most appropriate. As well as field work I use my all my rimfires on the range out to 200 yards regularly, I have also used my HMR at 600 yards and eventually got it on the black. Target work is not field work! ATB!
  15. Yep, there is a pattern, HMR has issues....... it is nothing specifically to do with any make of rifle, it is due to the manufacturing process of the ammo. It can also be a very useful calibre!
  16. The Zero on 24x will still be on zero if it's 10-12x mag. It just means that I'm still perfectly zeroed for anything between 10x and 24x too. So if it's a very tight shot, and I need better magnification, I will increase the mag as required. We all have ways of doing things but that seems a little strange to me, why zero at a magnification you seldom shoot at, the norm is to zero at the mag you most use and the distance you most shoot at. It should still be zeroed all through the range if you zero at 1x mag or 30x mag. The higher the magnification the bigger the perceived shake a
  17. That is a little too Black and White, there are plenty of ways a bipod etc can be used successfully with a springer, my lad mastered it with his Gamo and was deadly accurate! Same as what I'm using. I have a little Gamo springer and am really enjoying it. I'm changing my new (and recently damaged) scope over from my Ultra to the Gamo. I love my Ultra, but the springer is just so much more fun. Is his a break action Gamo? If so, what kind and what bipod is he using? Was.... he no longer has it, Shadow RSVP ( or some collection of letters after it ), yep a break barrel. Very cheap fix
  18. I'm confused...so why do you zero at 24x and shoot at 10-12x? :hmm:
  19. Do the maths, speed of sound - speed of pellet, 30-35 yard target and see yourself. Remember, it is not just hearing, bunny would also need reaction time. Then ask yourself, if they can do that how come anyone ever hits one with a sub 12ft lb air rifle? :hmm:

  21. If you have already checked other issues such as moderator, crown etc and they are all fine, then shimming isn't the answer to this sort of issue. If you can't adjust the scope enough left/right then you have a faulty scope, mounts or possibly even rail. That's like putting a sticking plaster on a broken leg.
  22. There are many explanations of Parallax on the web, most probably better than I can tell you, but put VERY simply, the best way to avoid parallax error is to make sure you look through the centre of the scope. Don't get all tied up in this malarkey, it isn't as critical as some make out in the majority of situations!
