  1. How do they differ from each other with one been kelpie dominant and the other border dominant?
  2. Neal...hows the middle one differ in temperament?
  3. Off subject......but I used to work on my dads milkround around Thorpe Hesley........Rotherham...(about thirty years go) as early as two am delivering milk.....surprising how many times I’d spot a lamp in the fields around there.....up near garden centre etc. But back to the deer it’s surprising how I’ve been seeing more last few years...when I lived in North Yorkshire there were plenty of deer, unfortunately there was also a ridiculous amounts of ticks.......I still took my socks in now.
  4. Thats exactly what puts me off these days....
  5. Just wait for some lurcher to lurcher pups that do mainly what you want. That’ll be your best option.
  6. Try googling.... gundogsdirect.co.uk , look under other dogs near top of page, have a good scroll through.
  7. Worlds smallest lab or patterdale or neither
  8. I joined a Facebook whippet x bedlington forum.....me thinking it’s for working dogs, but all that get posted are threads/photos regarding how cute their dog looks.....they’re so popular as pets these days.
  9. Tyla....what’s the rough height please
  10. God I’ve always loved the look of these two......in my experience dogs like these provide me with more fun than an out n out lurcher
  11. Springer, cocker, sprocker. Or these cross terrier. I’m in same boat with my next dog. Lurchers these days seem to attract attention that I don’t need. I just mooch and practice with a catapult Lots of pics on here of spaniel x terriers.....I’m guessing odd one might drop down a hole, which I don’t want.
  12. How do you find them? Only bushed with Russell’s n collies.
  13. After losing my springer lurcher I was considering getting a cocker x whippet or springer x just for general mooching about. Gaza on here kindly pointed out a cocker x whippet litter out, I really wanted one but I’m still too raw with my loss. From the pics I’m not sure if it was whippet...maybe lurcher (which also would have been perfect) I’ll check if there’s are still any left. It was at County Durham. Been in touch with the seller, unfortunately they sold last week.
  14. Tell you what I bet it ended up been stunning looking. If you ever do go down the gun dog lurcher route most of the time the pups are from accidental matings, however you do find the odd purpose bred gundog lurcher. Nothing wrong with collie or bedlington bred lurchers, plenty of well experienced people on here swear by them and for good reasons. Mine was out and out daytime mooching, no ferreting no lamping. Like anything I would be careful what gundog breed you wanted in a lurcher for the work you do.....I wanted spaniel in there and was lucky enough to find one and I was ver happy with
  15. I reckon you missed out. It probably would have excelled at mooching around......(and that’s probably why it’s still haunting you). Old fella I knew worked dogs all his life...He said the best rabbiting dog he ever saw was a Irish setter x whippet....who’d have thought it. Eveybody is so used to either collie x or bedlington cross type lurchers, most will say probably they’re common for good reason and that’s fair enough, but I stepped over to the other side with my springer x lurcher and maybe I got very lucky with a one off......but by christ her skill level at daytime hunting was
  16. If I had choice I’d go good lurcher x lurcher to breed with instead of sighthound.
  17. Don’t know......my pure KC Whippet was hard as...I reckon hardier than some of the race whippets....probably more robust too. That was in the 80’s though.
  18. I’d go 50% spaniel in pups for mooching....be the muts nuts whippet greyhound ...nah bedlington.......nah
  19. Fluted elfin saddle mushroom
  20. I was lucky with mine, was just glancing through gumtree or preloved at the time. Was an accidental mating. I did just the other week see a litter of cocker x lurcher. I’m not sure if I’m going to get another lurcher, probably just as happy working a pure collie or springer or either of those crossed with a terrier.
