I can't see the point of bringing back extinct animals, there is not enough pristine wilderness left for a lot of living species like the great apes and many other large animals. The oceans are polluted shitholes and so is a lot of the dry land. We have to remember why they went extinct to start with. I think they are trying to resurrect the Tassie tiger as a zoo novelty only because how are they going to produce a viable breeding population? it's just token BS. How about stopping humans breeding and the wildlife, or what's left of it will return unaided. I can see my grandkids looking in awe
I raised a pure grey as a hunter, he was very game and was good on fox and roos, too clumsy for ferreting, I only hunt daytime. He was also very loyal and a good guard. His feet let him down and got cut up a lot where I've never had that with whippets or staghounds.
Fck breeding dogs anyway, you try to get a pup as good as the bitch but the cross might not work out and every dog is very different unless they come from a tight line. Even then they all have different characters. I'd rather enjoy the dogs I have then get a new pup in as they age and enjoy working it for what it is.
Did it stop him carrying on when the bitches were in season? I put a post up about whether to get my terrier neutered. He doesn't fight he just screams for weeks.
Have a similar thing with my grew bitch and parson bitch. The grew hated the terrier when I got her at 8 weeks, then loved her from 12 weeks until 18 months. They got into a blue when the grew bit too hard playing and now can't be together. I just have one in their crate while the other is out, bit of a pain but I'm not parting with either.
I like the look of the bull whippets like I like whirriers but I can't see the point when a bull/grey does a better job on fox and bigger stuff and a pure or 3/4 whippet is faster and can't be beaten on rabbits. If a running dog hasn't got the pace of the quarry it's never going to be even satisfactory. The first cross would be great general farm vermin dogs and maybe ferreting certain areas.
I've heard cod liver oil can be harmful, I use wild salmon oil caps for humans and my grew has gone from being a dumbass to a virtual genius. It takes a few weeks to kick in but for their coat, general health and brain function it is amazing stuff.
I have a male parson, a grew bitch and a parson bitch. The bitches come into season one after the other so have the dog crying and whining for about 4 weeks every 6 months. He is 8 years old and wondering if neutering at this age will quiet him down or will he keep doing this out of habit? He sired two litters when young so he knows all about it. Seems a shame to take his nuts at 8 but if it makes him more quiet they're going., cheers.
