  1. Lost one but I do enjoy a successful crow hunting session. They are so sharp eyed and alert. U.
  2. Failing that. http://www.sportingsupplies.co.uk/contents/en-uk/d500.html
  3. Steve Jones of Trent firearms, Stoke on Trent is good with PH rings, mounts and bases. 01782302937. U.
  4. Lol thought I had overdone the brandy for a moment. Best wishes mate.
  5. Got out with a rifle today looking for squirrels and anything edible. Edible into the bag. Jess treed some squirrels for me and retrieved some, well, kind of retreived. The last shot made me chuckle, it was a crow but at distance. I underestimated the distance and did not give enough hold over as I aimed off hand. The crow flew off but what came back was the sound of the bullet hitting the post. I paced it off at 218 paces and short of the hold over being not enough I was pleased with the windage. A grand walk. Love this time of year. U.
  6. Not anymore buddy. The real solution is a muzzloader with one barrel. That way just ten birds will bring immense satisfaction. I no longer have a double modern gun just single barreled cartridge guns and I certainly am pleasantly surprised by how much less ammo I use! Years ago we use to buy cheap Russian ammo but nobody imports it now. Bet some Chinese ammo would be cheap and good enough for pigeon.
  7. To be honest the brass between the two are pretty much the same thickness. They have similar operating pressure.
  8. Apparently not but I wouldn't know sorry. Well done on your partridge day. U.
  9. Damn. The catty seem financially viable!I'd be getting 2nd hand and that puts me off the 22-250 even more due to being labelled "barrel burners" As far As cost of a rifle 2nd hand and ammo goes the .223 wins. The fact that I'm only getting one out of necessity, is a big factor. Farmer says just get rid of the big dog foxes if I see one. Doesn't want them annihilated just kept on top of. I suppose come lambing season it'll be a different story. But shelling lots for something that may not get used much doesn't make sense. Which is why I think.223. Less expensive to but on the used market and
  10. You too, brilliant, I wasn't going to say.....
  11. Light weight, real men laugh at pain. ;-)
  12. It's your choice but 222 or 223 would be my choice before the 22-250. Many forget the real reason for the 22-250 being developed, to hit prairie dogs at long range with light bullets, a small thin skinned critter. At nearly 4000fps bullet integrity even on a blade of grass is much to ask! 3000fps with 50-60 grn bullets is plenty good and avoids shallow wounds! Just my observations. U.
  13. Good way that is. Nothing wrong with 222.
  14. I enjoy my singles now immensely. I have noticed I waste far less ammunition now too! https://photos.app.goo.gl/M6GHPyFpgtMMnTEu1 U.
  15. Well said that man. I find cleaning black powder easier than nitro. U.
  16. Not quite a picture but this nasty pheasant was fun! https://youtu.be/NYVLgQ7QLNY U.
  17. Cheers but really is nothing special. The wind is crucial and the area has been left for months to settle down. I don't make a habit of it but early spring and autumn it's worth a try.
  18. Got two by spot and stalking. Seen five and heard a sixth one! That will keep me busy! Tonight's. U.
