  1. Amazing but it's no good for steaming rising thermals I bets!
  2. What about the sudden thermal signiture?
  3. Am I best taking the usual precautions as in concealing myself discreetly as I would during daylight hours should a natural urge become unbearable nowadays at night also? Thanks. U.
  4. That's racist, hill Billie's are resourceful people. Barrel bending is an art practiced by top gun makers. As some who works in engineering steels, it is very common to have to straighten sections of steel as they although from a distance look straight never are. Cheap made gun barrels are no different, why even the bore can be not in the center on some cheap guns! One must be careful to not assume that all things are made true! I still don't recommend whacking a barrel as a video may suggest, there is little control with that method!
  5. Oops, wrong department! Mods, please help, I meant it to be in rifles and shotguns. Thanks.
  6. Seeing fox tracks in the snow the other morning was to much! So last night I found it. It's been hanging around for carrion that occasionally ends up the other side of my back hedge! So after getting busted last night I fed her a cooked chicken carcass and then tonight, all wrapped up, waited. It was just after 7 when she turned up. I knew she would wind me but I gambled on her looking back which she did. The thirty yard shot crossed her ribs and she folded up at 80yards. In prime condition and coming into season. U.
  7. Fine for pot shots maybe but not ideal for hasty shooting. Besides if shooting men had an ounce of common sense they probably would not indulge in the money sucking habit of shooting in the first place!
  8. Then there is filing the muzzle to steer the shot! U.
  9. It won't crimp, it's a barrel, not conduit.
  10. No no, no whacking. Gently feel it give.
  11. Have used blocks of wood and jacks, even a tractor front link. Oh and a forked tree. Then there was the time I stood on one. Just take a measurement and have a go. You can always tweak it back.
  12. So it only needs bending down 5-6 mm. That's not much. Try bending it. But not in the action. Take the barrel out.
  13. Thinking about it more, has it had any bore work or choke adjustment? If that has been done poorly it will throw the load off course.
  14. We bent a mates barrel but a foot and half is excessive to be fixed by a subtle bend. It will need some wood removing too for that amount and then feel awkward. It may need the wrist of the stock bending for a better result. U.
  15. I bought some 2" once, fiocchi. For rats I thought they would be ideal with just 3/8oz load but the first thing I shot was a 25 yard crow! Will find the photo. Here it is.
  16. "garlic" Where is your friend getting his powder from, France? Mine smells like a good ole' morning phart after two fried eggs down the greasy spoon, proper English fare
  17. I had one too, it was alright but it was 2&1/2". I always like British proof marks, clear and simple. U.
  18. "Cartridge breach loaders" Wash your mouth out! Shot that much with breach loaders and still do but I get more from the challenge now and I like the smell, smell's no worse than me!
  19. Can 17 skin them? It's done a grand job. U
  20. Too boring mate, next up you'll be encouraging my to use that evil smokeless powder!! U.
  21. Grand session mate. Sound like good shell's. Well done on the following up work. U.
