Bog standard chicken roast dinner here today The missus bought these dumpling type things - I forget what they're called. They're made with flour, cottage cheese, cardamom and rose water, among other things, then deep fried and put in sugar syrup. ......... They're not as sweet as you might think. They're different but, not horrible.

I don't know what pandesal is but, the mother in law has a bread maker - what she knocks up is nice but it is quite dense and heavy. The missus sometimes makes bread properly (needing and proving) - it's more messing about but it does turn out better - more light and fluffy. I reckon this is one of the things where you can't really improve on the old ways.
