When your trying to deceive someone, you need to at least download a picture that would coincide with what your saying, and though that kind of thing may get past some of your mates its fell horribly short here as the foliage your last nights rabbit is laying in is completely out of sync with the season that we are now in another school boy error ??

The only good thing about the rain this morning is I might turn up for work, but other than that prefer any other kind of weather, would have liked a foot of snow for a month or so, prefer crisp cold mornings to this doomie grey gloomie shite, would also like some continuity in the weather like we used to get instead of all this one day -8 a week later 10above makes it hard to plan anything in advance and fucks with the wildlife

I believe that polecats are being released back into the wild covertly, much the same as was done with otters and will be done again soon with pine Martin’s, it’s part of an eu rewilding scheme that seems to have no boundary,s I have caught 11 different polecats on cameras I have set up around the edge of Bristol in two different locations 8 were on one camera, also others I know that have used trail cams for years are catching polecats for the first time in the last few year never seen one in 55 years and 11 in the last 2, I don’t think that’s just nature??

My son wanted something to keep in his fishing bag that he could fire big ammo and it would,nt be perished every time he needs it so I done an old Barnett with the blue dub dub for him, the blue is about the limit of power with accuracy but a wrist brace is a big help with it and with big lead,rocks or nuts it’s a beast

Shopping baskets propped up on a stick with fishing line attached was another childhood method to catch birds we would sit for hours as the birds got more confident feeding under the basket then tug the stick and trap a load, these kids today don’t no what there missing ?????

I was a kid in the 70s and and like you have grown out of all that but it was dead normal back then as was taking eggs and hatching them under the canary,s but in defence we would only take one egg so they could hatch the rest, bullfinch,s eggs were quite sought after as were goldie,s, there are many things we did which would be abhorrent today, but I guess they gave us an understanding and respect for it today ?

Bad news for the barbel mate, the Bristol Avon has been decimated by them, we will have to get the rods out before the seasons over, a lot of the captive bred otters that get released round here get hit by cars, if you get the vet to scan it some of them have a chip in ? -
I bump into the odd person mist netting and ringing birds when I,m on my travels always stop for a chat, surprising what’s about when you sit quietly in a wood, saw a guy catch a couple of pied fly catchers a couple of years ago in a wood I,ve walked in for years and never seen one ?

Was out in the snow yesterday saw loads of goldfinch,s on the teasel heads, they used to paint sticky stuff on them when I was a kid to stick to there feet then just pick them off and put in the aviary, used to be lots of people kept British finch,s and mules when I was a boy don’t seem as popular today, nice to hear your old man is into it ???

Without being funny could he not put a wide strap around his lower forearm and the rod handle to take up some of the weight, I have a two handled bass fly rod that I use for pike and carp it is probably more beneficial when your playing a bigger fish than for casting, but in truth the only thing you can guarantee to fail is the thing you don’t attempt to do, so if your mate really wants it he will find a way good luck ?
