Must admit the laminate 110k is lovely, I really would love one and can't disagree with the Wildcat Mk3 Mitch and I would also go for that in .22fac but the 100BP hmmm not impressed, the handle feels all wrong and way over priced in my humble opinion, bloody horrible looking thing. Phil

From salt or fresh water Gav. We get a few big sea trout here in North Lincs but never caught one, even had them next to our boat (back when I had a share in a 30' fishing boat) so close at times that you could net them if you knew they were going to come up at that moment in time ? Well done Gav, a red letter day mate. On fly or spinner Phil

My pal has the standard 110 in .22 so we had a direct comparision and found no difference whatsoever up to 45mt. we only used them at shorter ranges of say 25 - 40mt as we would normally use our Impacts fac rifles for 90% of our hunting. If you are really needing as high a shot count as possible, the standard length version will give more shote per fill but whilst the 110 is lighter than the 100, I just preferred the 110k for it's lightness (same weight as an FX Wildcat) and speed of handling and will get another when funds are available which is unlikely to be soon or ever now my dear wi

Thanks Mark for the offer, I do have over half a tin of AA Field Express pellets which were amazing in my old TX for accuracy but I didn't use the TX for hunting as it was too bloody heavy to walk around with. I tried light pellets in my old HW100 and for some reason my kill rate went downhill and when I switched to Bis Mags, it went through the roof so it put me off light pellets for hunting and at the same time gave me great confidence in the heavier pellet, not a closed book though. I know you, Mitch and others use light pellets to great effect and I am not disgarding the idea of

Okay taking into account the different things said about cleaning these two calibres, have you any thoughts, bearing in mind the points about delicate tubes, do any of you use a bore snake in preference to rod and brushes. Phil

Okay thanks Simon. I have bought a 99 in .177 flavour a couple of weeks ago and using JSB Exact at present with good and accurate results but I did wonder what the Heavies would be like as an alternative if I use the HW99 for hunting. Early days yet and I have a few tins to use up before looking further afield. Phil

Sell the spare wheel off the Bentley Mitch and you could get one. ? Phil

I am pleased to hear he is well SD. I have not been on the competition circuit for many years now but it is always nice to bump into an old competitor as I have done a few times. Once spoke to a guy who asked if I still shoot in that fcuking white cap, this took me back a bit and I said I was amazed he could remember me wearing that cap. He then said he hated that bloody cap and I asked why, his response was that he may have been shooting quite well then he would catch sight of my cap and say something like...................'oh fcuk, he's bloody here. I know that He was beaten be

I had the 110k in .22 which I thought was superb but sold it to buy my wmr rifle and is on my list to replace with a .177 of the same. The 'k' version has a smaller shot count although more than thw 100 series but weighs in at only 2.7kg making it both short and very quick to use. Phil

Well done DB always a great read. Phil

Cheer Si, I will give them a shout if they are open. Phil

The point here is that despite some of you going out shooting during the lockdown, we were told to stay at home, do not drive to take excercise, so many of us did. I was advised by my area police that if I were a full time pest / vermin controller going about my everyday work, no problem BUT we are not people earning our living by being a pest controller and we shouldn't be driving anywhere other than for essentials, food etc. THAT WAS THE RULE simple. The fact that you decided to go and drive, shoot etc is your own decision but it is not what we were asked to do and now some of the

To the best of my knowledge they don't sell them but I will check as I am getting very low on ammo for the wmr so a phone call is due. Phil

Shot against Duncan on a number of competitions back in the 80's & 90's, in fact I saw him shoot the world's first 100 straight at sporting on the old Buxton Gun Club layout, great ground which made my 89 look sick. Never seen a man strip down his very well used Remmy 1100 semi auto during a competition, change a part and then smoke the targets on the next stand. A nice guy to boot and so unassuming. Phil

Yes I think it is unburnt powder. I fitted a Wildcat Panther mod partly because it is easy to clean and interestingly while shooting with my pal today who has a Sak mod and side by side mine is now quieter. Federal, bugger thats the one, getting mixed up, senior moment, but still don't know where the hell to find them. Phil

Thanks SD, I rather hoped that would be the case. Perhaps the Hornady are a dirty round compared to others. I have not seen any of the Remmington wmr shells you said were good fox stoppers. Phil

Now then chaps, I was always told that .17 hmr needs to be cleaned each time it is used, I don't have an hmr but my pal who has one was also advised to clean after use and he does. Moving on, I was also told that the ammunition used in the .22wmr is nowhere near as dirty so cleaning was similar to a standard .22rimmy only clean when needed. This morning I had an issue with my wmr in the scope mount had moved so I needed to rezero which I did and generally pratted around for a while getting through about 50 - 60 rounds of Hornady 30 gr, V-Max and the barrel is really dirty. Perhaps a silly

That may be Mitch as in the fact that police in certain parts of the country rule that without a written statement from the doctor, you will NOT get even a renewal ticket which is way out of order but the government is not stopping them so they carry on and it may be brought into government policy in time. During lockdown, there was NO provision for us to go out shooting and yes I know quite a few of you did so and that was your decision but my shooting partner and myself did not and that was our decision. This situation of phoning in to the control room when we go out is not a major issu

You phone 101 and ask for the control room who will take your details and where you are going. It is simple and save any problems that may occur. Once we are all back to the new normal, I won't be doing this but in all honesty, I don't really mind if it helps when some anti reports that there is a bloke with a gun, it saves sending out other police officers when they could be better placed elsewhere. Not everyone's take on it but it keeps me on the right side and I will continue until I no longer need to do it. Phil

Stunning Jimmy...................................simply stunning. Phil -
No it's not cheap but my rfd uses one so does the other rfd I deal with has one and not much more than the FX and having looked at one, I think the Skan is far better value for money. Phil

They are using them on some of the 'Airgun 101' vids but I don't see how they can be as accurate as a Chrony or Caldwell unit where the pellet passes the sensors. I have a Combro but don't like them much and wish I had not sold my Chrony. At £140 - 160 I would not buy one and instaed buy another Chrony or Skan unit. The police use Skan so they must be pretty good. Phil

It was on the tv tonight during the covid19 presentation that the police cannot enforce distancing which is not what has been happening and they should be allowed to enforce it in my humble opinion. I phone the police to advise them I am out vermin shooting and phone again when I get back, no problem at all. I was given this method only a couple of weeks ago and have used it 5 times now, no effort and have logged in several perms on the same night, it is very simple. I have found so far that the police are very friendly and quite helpful with any queries I may have. I printed out th
