if he's as bad as that I really wouldn't have him around a pup to influence it. Shame though as it sounds you have a really bad experience. My collie x is soft as shit, only time he goes aggressive if another dog threatens me or him by rushing up barking /growling and worse if I have my daughter with me. Really protective dog but not nasty dog. He is a little sensitive but on the other hand he has a forgiving nature. Got my next collie saturated lurcher in the pipe line, let's hope it don't end up like your experience lol. Atb joe

Collie X Greyhound For Lamping Rabbits
Somewhereyournot replied to plugster's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Never seen a lurcher mature at 12 months old -
Joe, if he's that bad of a dog, why have u still got it ? If it's a pet fair enough, but I'd never buy a pup to work and keep it if it's as bad as you say it is I'd sooner PTS and start again lol. Exactly what is so bad about him mate, genuine question.

Can't u kennel dogs together then or is it usually an issue? Never noticed tbh. Had a bitch that I wouldn't kennel, not vid she was dog aggressive but didn't like to be f****d about with.

If You Wanted Just An Occasional Hare
Somewhereyournot replied to bullmastiff's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
You won't catch many with a slow dog where ever they are. Never seen an easy hare and probably never will. Lamp or in the day they have given the dogs present a hell of a run. And none of the dogs have been particularly slow dogs either. -
I noticed that with the tracer led. It seemed a dim white light to me

A Quick Trip Out With The New 150
Somewhereyournot replied to trigger2's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
its tracer's version of the plr500 they are exactly the same imo. mine isnt the cordless version as i dont feel they have been tried out in the field long enough for me to be trusting the life span of the battery over a season or two. £45 for the lamp with the cord on and a red filter comes with it aswell for that money. ive rewired it and run it off my 14 amp lithium. its only a 10 watt led and it is plenty bright enough for any lamping i do round here. i will drop you a pm later when the misses gets back from work and i wont have the kids then lol 10 amp lithium n one of them get 10 -

Whats Best For Filming Rabbits ?? H I D Or Halogen
Somewhereyournot replied to swg dave's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I still think the quality of the picture will be better though some how. U could even make the beam wider and it still be bright n good quality so you never over run the rabbit if you get me. Having said that, Iv never filmed my lamping and don't think I would either. But Atb with it -

my dog is half x to half x put to a grey, so 3/4 grey 1/4 collie, but I say he hasn't thrown like a normal 3/4, I say he's closer to half x and he does alright on rabbits n other bits on mixed land -

Whats Best For Filming Rabbits ?? H I D Or Halogen
Somewhereyournot replied to swg dave's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Iv changed setting now lads. Not best of quality I know, it's an iPhone. But if u have seen a 140,you will know it's not much difference to a 170 halogen, bigger spot and slightly bright. But this HID, Absolutely smashes the halogens to pieces lol. People will say it's too bright, I don't think so at all, iv had good few things squat or mill about down range of it. And iv caught few rabbits within 50 odd yards of each other so don't spook in field. -
Not blinkered mate, just thinking about what he will be using it for that's all. You could get a 30" deerhound x catching 30-40 rabbits a night, but I wouldn't use it if I wanted to catch rabbits in woodland and lamp some fields for rabbits lol Nice dog btw, atb

She'll be on her own for a while now, just a couple of slips on her own then work the other dog after.Recall was spot on, so I can work on the retrieve wasnt a dig mate, just saying she did well to even come back with another dog present. Atb No I knew it wasn't a dig mate, I agree the other dog present wasn't ideal. It was meant to be 1 or 2 slips, but they were clamped tight and I couldn't resist lol. yep, take the opportunity as they arise mate. Because iv had a lot of nights blanking lol
