  1. I didn't say they couldn't mate, most dogs with running dog will catch rabbits on lamp. I just don't think it's needed really for what he's wanting it for, could increase size quite a it and I had a pup with a bit of saluki in it, was a right royal pain in the arse tbh lol. I'd be looking at something similar
  2. Why would you need coursing blood in a rabbiting/lamping dog
  3. She'll be on her own for a while now, just a couple of slips on her own then work the other dog after.Recall was spot on, so I can work on the retrieve wasnt a dig mate, just saying she did well to even come back with another dog present. Atb
  4. Nice one mate. But to be fair I wouldn't moan at her retrieving if your taking another dog along , because all dogs get abit shy at retrieving with another dog present, unless they are very experienced. Good luck
  5. Here's the HID , The iPhone don't show the actual potential but obviously shows you the massive difference. You swear the 140 was a tea light
  6. Just uploading vids to YouTube , the 140 Iv had for a while and tbh there's not much between that and the 170 really. Halogen wise anyway. Here's the 140 link That field is about 270 yards long by 60 maybe 70 wide?
  7. The HID is clean and very powerful mate. Iv had better nights lamping since using HID over halogen. I did upload pics for you ages ago to photo bucket but photo bucket wouldn't let me view them then. I also did a video of me using a 50w halogen up the local field vs my new HID , just to compare and recorded using an iPhone.
  8. When ever Iv been abit stuck for meat I try to feed abit of dry, but soon as I do I notice a change in attitude, more worked up, too much energy. Some would say that'll benefit in field, but don't be fooled because o find he has less stamina and pants a lot more off simply a bit of dried. So if the dog was fed just dried then I dread to think. Iv fed "grain free" it's called, and another high meat n veg content food, gain 28 etc and all of them have been more or less the same as far as heating up quicker and being hyper. Stick to my meat n bones, abit of veg from time to time, natural yogu
  9. What would cause that the tip of the quick becoming cold and dying back a few millimeters ?i don't know , but I suppose your going to doubt me and knit pick lolNo not at all just interested.and wondering how it works.probably because to nerve is too close so just dies back abit, each time you trim back it dies back abit more. Only understanding of it really. Dogs with long nails will have knocked toes, split nails and I would of thought weaker tendons in the foot due to it spreading the foot giving it a flat look.

  11. Yes mate, deerhound, collie, grey x deer, collie, grey. Bitch has bearded collie in her though, adds a bit of coat to the cross. nice, any chance of pics mate I like the x . I got a collie x here mostly beardy, certainly fiery lol
  12. You can train the quick to become shorter. Keep clipping the nail as close to quick as possible and it will eventually fade back. Some of the dogs feet on here I see make me cringe, some don't look like they get walked lol
  13. Deerhound, saluki and bearded/border collies have the toughest feet in general I think. I like tight bunched high knuckled feet. You will never stop cuts to the feet really as most adult dogs pads should be hard so just bad luck. But maintaining the nails will always make the feet tighter n form better and not only that they got less chance of injury and less chance of getting caught and potentionally snapping then
  14. go to photo bucket, make account, upload. Go on image, then on the side it'll be little thing saying code, copy the link, paste it on here in the comment box.
  15. Iv fed pig heads before now and pork meat not a problen
  16. Ah right Iv had a ok season nothing thrilling because my dogs been injured twice. That's why I'm looking at a pup, been offered a tidy bred collie x pup. Fingers crossed everything goes to plan. Deer dogs, is that deer collie grey x deer collie grey?
  17. Has anyone got a pup in the pipeline due next year? I have, and I'm real excited to see it happen and it's not even born yet. What's x are you going for? Atb
  18. What happened to your other pup mate?i gave it to someone else to make use of it, I couldn't gel with it mate. Give it two months but it's attitude wasn't for me. Last time il have saluki in a dog. Stick to my collie xs I think, then I know where I am.
