  1. Iv often wondered the point in adding something to look at breeding it out? Iv got a collie grey x beardy grey x grey at the minute and he's plenty quick enough and doing ok if the injuries stay at bay, but on the other hand if he's sat in kennel he won't learn. So far I don't think he's too clever. Always time for that to change I suppose but I think it would of happened by now. I'm hoping to get hold of a collie bred lurcher next year, hence me question the half x types and their ability. As mine at the minute work out as 3/4
  2. I warm my dogs meal through a bit especially in winter
  3. ..yea ignore it mate.it can't be done.it can be done, but as always it's luck of the draw whether you end up not damaging the dog.Do you really think for a newbie to come on here, first dog, inexperienced, that starting a dog at 8 months old on the lamp is sound advice? Give me a f***ing break lol My lurcher wouldn't of even caught at 8 months. But by 12 months I took him out, first ever rabbit he saw, run nice, picked it up and retrieves it live to hand and Iv taken it steady from there. what's the luck of the draw ? A dog can damage itself at any ageSome dogs will catch at 8 months.and if
  4. I use the adjustable acme whistle. Only for recall or to call in close by. I got a shit whistle and when winds in face Its hard that's why I bought mine. I find once you set the tone, it's brilliant. So much more consistent which benefits the dog by him knowing what u want and now.
  5. cracking pic. How are your curs bred We only need rough and ready, rabbiters,...hedgerow dogs, just for a bit of ferreting/marking/mouching, etc,...so a mix of Greyhound,..Whippet and Sheepdog blood serves us well.. she looks nice n small.
  6. I know it's probably been done to death, but let's see some half xs, generation bred, line bred collie lurchers. Like half x bred or 5/8th to half etc Googled some old posts which were top notch and a lot of info, but some pictures don't appear. Be great to see some of this breeding as in thinking along these lines as a future mutt. Cheers
  7. What's the ideal space per dog , average size 26. Planning new kennel after new year and I'm planning a kennel wondering how much room guys give there dogs.

  14. Short journeys until he over comes it. 5 min round block.
  15. is he still lame now? Mine slipped one night and pulled its shoulder
  16. not if you run your hands over the dog daily. I give my dog a rub down every day, especially before lamping and check feet before and after lamping. I also brush him out once a week along with nail clipping routinely. So just depends what your like I suppose. Just to add, my rough dog does smell, but Iv had smooth coat dogs smell near enough as much, one oatterdale I had absolutely stunk and I do give them wash down time to time. You`re a hell of a lad why am I hell of a lad?

  18. All dogs kennelled and walked in mucky damp field will smell. Condition is easier to see on smooth coat. I do think if you got a thick, ad I mean proper thick dense coat that it adds a little protection. Although the thicker the coat the quicker they over heat. It's nice knowing my dog won't be as cold as a dog that has a proper smooth coat when kennelled up.
  19. So how are they bred again it abit confusing as I don't know meg snipe and who's the brother lol
