    It's nice for those of us that have had someone to show us what to do . I feel lucky to have had to had someone show me the right way to go on. I have got a couple of my brothers little lads asking me to go out digging , they always ask have I got anything or what dog done what . I will do my best to show them like I was shown !

    After the mentor thread it got me thinking how I came to terrer work. For me it was down to my father really , he would turn up to pick me up from school and always seemed to have a hare in the footwell of his old van . Or would wake me up early in the morning and say fancy going out with the terriers. And although money was tight due mainly to my old man being out with his dogs and not working lol we were happy . But how did you come to terrier work?

    A few weeks ago I was winding my old mum up saying they've arrested Dave Lee travis fluff freeman , diddy David Hamilton and Tony Blackburn lol and now they've actually arrested him.

    We don't get marmots in Britain but they're I think in mainland Europe .

    Just because a pup has only one parent that's a worker it doesn't mean it's not going to work. Of course the "Ideal" is to have both parents that are solid workers that have been tested in many situations. But with terrier work sometimes there's no definitive black or White answer. I've seen and owned dogs out of worker to worker that were useless, and have seen a dog that was a pet take to work like a duck to water .

    @gonetoearth. Like I said I wouldn't be doing it! but to play devils advocate sometimes it can be for the better. For example if the dog isn't getting the graft and is not being worked !! Then maybe a change of owner to someone that is going to give it the graft it needs is surely for the better.

    @jawn. Like I said I've no problem with gifting a dog or even selling a dog in certain situations! But me personally would feel like I had sold a something that's taken me a long while to get. I suppose I'm just greedy lol

    My two bob for what it's worth , I havnt got a problem with gifting a dog to someone that's going to respect that dog the way I have ! Also in theory I have nothing against someone selling a proven dog in certain situations. But me personally would find it hard to get rid of a dog that had given it's all for me! In fact I don't think you could give me any sort of money for a proven dog that I had reared and brought on from a pup IMHO
