Sorry for hijacking the thread lads but when you get two londoners on the subject of eels it leads to other things like boxing or football lol

    Gnash the last time I had a bowl of eels at tubbys I spat the eel bone in the bin and a big ole rat crawled over the side and started eating the scraps. I love seafood of a stall but the man that's got it now is a dirty fooker!

    @ born to dig. True mate how can a working man afford a border pup when there's others out there a lot cheaper and better. A lot more proper lads would keep them if they was the right money and there for might be a lot more workers. I suppose it answers the stud fees question on the other thread!

    I would love to see the border used again as 100% digging dog again! I'm sure there are some that are use them properly but fear they might not be that many left! I was speaking to a fella last night and he sells his border pups for £500 each and studs his dog out for £250 a time , and get two studs a month!

    In saying that what people say and do are two different things ! I've recently been contacted by a fella that's been on here and wanted to get into a bit of terrier work. Long story short he's very green and when I asked how old his bitch was he said 16 months old . I then said" so you'll be looking forward to trying her out in the new season" his answer was I can't do anything with her yet as she's in pup" the bloke I brought her from said it was ok if I put it to his dog!

    I would only let approved bitches. My reasons are that I think that a proven bitch is a must to breed workers . If you let any old bitch to be bred from you might be lucky but after a few generation you'll be so be getting crap . And adding to the long list of failures! Jmho

    Everybody has their own preferences as to what they like. I suggest you do a little bit of homework as to what proper terrier lads work in your area , and then make your own mind up! Me personally I prefer patterdales fell terriers call them what you like. Also have soft spot for jrt.

    If someone had brought a good bitch to me and offered me money to use my dog , rather than giving me a pup back I wouldn't let them use my dog. For a few reasons really but mainly because if their not in it for the money then giving a pup back shouldn't be a problem. But then so many people say one thing and do another when it comes to breeding a litter !
