  1. I'm an old chap now my first job apart from a paper round was working in a market garden. I've been gardener all my life so most of the gardening just come naturally if you know what I mean. But believe you me I still get failures my carrots this year are shit all tops and not bottoms. I made a mistake of putting last years peat from the Tomato pots in where I I planed to grow the carrots think there was to much fertiliser feed left in it. Oh well lesson learnt. Cheers Arry

  6. Well I put in Wood Chip Mushroom to Google and think these are good contenders. "The Spring Field Cap" and I think the most lightly "The Wrinkled Field Cap" . Wrinkled Fieldcap | Wakefield Naturalists' Society | nature club Wakefield WAKEFIELDNATURALISTS.ORG I was walking by the River Calder, near the Hepworth Gallery, when I spotted a mass of fungi on a pile of woodchips. I did my best to identify them using books... I would not take or eat any of those myself. Cheers Arry
  7. There not one I would normally look at I don't like the little spindly white mushrooms the only one is the Champignons but that grows in grass ofter playing fields and lawns. Check out this Site for ID of mushrooms I find it very good. Wild UK Mushrooms (Fungi): Guide to Identification & Picking WWW.WILDFOODUK.COM Edible and poisonous wild mushroom identification guide. When to pick, what to look for. Photos, video, safety tips for each mushroom. Cheers Arry
  8. I'm sorry mate I'm not sure of what they are but I would not be looking to take or eat them. I'm not an expert I have learnt to just recognise maybe 12 or 15 different mushrooms to take safely lots more know and are not worth bothering with. But if you take a picture of one or two closer and the under side (the gills) I will have a look though some of my books. Cheers Arry
  9. I agree mate I think the sewer outfalls these days have more chemicals these days. The bleaches, dish washing chemicals, cleaning products etc. When I was a kid the sewer was less harsh and was just filtered through reed bed no treatment went into the river stinking and black. But next to the outfall was the best place to dig harbour rag. The river was full of fish mullet used to feed of the scum from the sewer. Salmon were abundant I can remember a seine net fishermen catching 45 salmon in one haul. All the seine boats gone now and there was about 20. Even when my lads were young in the wint
