  3. 1970 amazing how old some of the albums are. Cheers Arry
  4. Did any of the potatoes under the rotted off plant look like this. I had one plant wilt over with black leg so dug them to save the spuds. Most were okay bit small but two had started to go black. Cheers Arry
  5. I really don't know mate some of mine the top look like they are over so I started to dig them as I need them. To be honest I'm very happy what is under them. Cheers Arry
  6. Sound like something called "Black Leg" mate. I you dig them as soon as they wilt over you should save the spuds, if you leave them the spud will start to go black and rot. Cheers Arry
  7. f**k me my fault for crop failure. The plant that have gone rotten, did the stems rot off just above the ground mate? Late blight usually strikes from July onwards, the leaf get brown marks that go nearly black then black stems. If this happens cut all the top off as it will spread to the spuds. Cheers Arry
  8. Just dug two Jazzy potato plants from the end of a row 7lb 5oz / 3,318kg. Well happy with that I'm keeping an eye on them for blight. Might lift the lot if I'm worried. Cheers Arry
  9. Westlands peat free compost verses Vitax 100% peat. I normally buy the Vitax I have used it for years but have to travel out about 10 miles to buy it. So the other day as wifey keeps pinching it for her flowers I bought 3 bags of Westlands for £12 from Morrisons down the road. So thought I would do a little experiment I pricked out 6 Little Gem from a seed tray into identical cells on the same day a week ago. Westlands Vs Vitax. Well think the results are plane to see I shan't be wasting any money on Westland shit again. Cheers Arry
  10. You don't have to dig them all at once. just dig them as you need them mate. Cheers Arry

  12. On the plus side my first handful of runner to go with todays roast. Cheers Arry
  13. Carrot not germinating seems to be a common thing this year. I have been struggling as well first lot of very early variety didn't show at all so raked it over and resowed just a few patches came up so sowed in-between got a few more. I keep doing this and now almost a couple of rows but they not moving like they should there slow. I'm thinking all that rain we had over winter has made paths down through the soil as the ground just doesn't seem to hold the water like it should and dries out quickly this year. I've now started to just spray the carrots and seed with a little water every night i

  18. Well my Birthday tomorrow and my ferreting/fishing mate came around with a big cock crab just under 2kg. After cooking it and picking it ended up with 390grams of white meat and just shy of 200grams of brown meat. As I had a Crab salad yesterday at Beesand I will freeze the round pot of white. Can feel a sandwich coming on mind. Cheers Arry

  20. There are some nice walks along the coast around there. One I like is a circular rout from Start Point car park walk down to Mattiscombe Sands a small secluded beach then strike east towards Start Point as you get to Pear Tree Point (if on the low tide) there will be quite a few seal hauled out. Then on to Start and walk up the light house road. Cheers Arry
  21. Nice little place Mack with reasonable prices have to book in peak season. Cheers Arry
  22. Down on the coast today Beesands. Beautiful day slight on shore breeze. Went for a meal at the Britannia shack on the beach. Crab salad for me. The Wife had Goujons. Couldn't believe it after coming out of the Shack looked up and there was a Red Kite only about 100 foot up only the second one I've seen in Devon. Cheers Arry

  24. Well yes they are supposed to be but lol. I had some red ones growing last year as well. I saved the seed just from the longest White Lady beans and although all the bean seed was white as you can see I had some cross pollination. Its going to be interesting what they perform like. Also interesting I got 100% germination from my own saved seed and about 60% from bought seed. Cheers Arry
