  1. No mate if the rat were to run down the wall cavity the ferret might follow how you going to get it back, I'm sure most ferrets would be okay bolting a rat, but thats it I think it will bolt and run around or run into the wall. I'd use a squirrel live trap or similar or big nipper style traps. Cheers Arry
  2. Its off the on/off switch mate, it may still work but it will not switch off and the battery will run down. Think it will need a new switch, there on ebay if you know some body who can solder. But as above Jim is your best bet for repair, lads really rate him and his prices are very good. Have a look in calibrating Mk1 posts at top top for his details and web site. Cheers Arry

I like the Opinel as well, which i also drilled a hole in the handle tied a bit of draw cored to a cheap carabiner and clip to my belt loop, handy being wooden handle. Just got to remember to close the blade after legging a rabbit or gutting, couple of time found it hanging by the string still open. Cheers Arry

Been doing it a while now mate over fifty years, but if something come along that make the job easier i'm up for trying it. Thanks for answering just curious really, sounds like to much faffing around, Didn't want to buy one just to try. Cheers Arry
  6. I was curious about this as well. I aways had small terrier types so we got them to sit behind the entrance holes or to one side. Still they did bolt well. Cheers Arry
  7. Guys, i'm wondering if any of you have tried these hooked gutting knifes are they any good for paunching rabbits ? I've got all sorts of knifes, but never try these hook type are they mainly for deer ? Cheers Arry
  8. Takes me back that, taking the young ones out and them wondering of to puddles etc. Well done mate. Cheers Arry
  9. Good advice there, say no more. You have the feel, you will know trust your feelings. Cheers Arry
  10. Nice bit of footage there mate. Especially being able to see them long runs. Cheers Arry
  11. Thats really unlucky for that to happen mate I've never heard of that, feel for you no matter what you do you always get attached to your own ferrets. As kids we used to block all the hole we could and drop the ferrets in the last layer of bails in a barn or a hay stack and stand back with terriers, they used to fly out. Cheers Arry
  12. It does seem a bit weird this year. I think its down to a mixture of Myxi , RHD and RHD2. Its very patchy, 3 trips around one field to get 45 yet 2 fields away nothing at all. Some farms theres none on one side and there fair numbers on the other. Have you seen any dead rabbits that look like they have just dropped dead with maybe blood coming from their nose or ears ? Cheers Arry
  13. Love the first photo the expression is priceless. Great idea, think i'll buy the wife a ferret may be a couple of fishing reels the list is endless. Then if she don't use them well I could put them to good use. lol Cheers Arry

  18. So nice when you get open field burrows after weeks of blackthorn hedges. so well done mate six out of one burrow is good going mate. Maybe try a collar with a bell, we use a 12mm bell my mate can hear them from a long way away ( I saw 12mm bells on a cat collar for about £3 in Morrison's). Unfortunately I can't hear them as somebody fired a 12 bore next to my ear one night lamping some 40 years ago and I've and ringing in my ears ever since. Cheers Arry
  19. Well done to you Paddypat nice offer. Cheers Arry
