  6. Lol I think a lurcher catching three out of three foxes on the lamp an dispatching them single handed is more arduous than three out three plodding hares lol what ya reckon

  13. We used to go to massive park , owned by the council, had a massive lake full of duck, geese etc , lots of woodland, cover etc, funny how a .410 cannot be heard on fireworks night. I love a nice duck or goose .
  14. I went out last week during a reduction in the winds but I have an issue with the Impact in that I missed every shot and I am not that bad a shot. Just running some chrono strings to see if I have a reg problem. I think another run up to Pickering guns.
  15. I'm with you, whippets are a very under rated dog. Love em.
  16. Yes clipping their nails back every few weeks is pretty normal, but it doesn't mean they have week/poor feet, which is what most people on this site say. And at least 95% of those people have NEVER owned, let alone worked a whippet.
  17. Long term relationship......
  18. Yes mate he's only young dog 21 month now . Done a few bits last season . Had his dam down at mine for a little learning curve for him for couple of months then sent her back as he knew the crack. Carried on doing ok on his own. Finished the season on a high for him. Never pushed him too much as he was only just over 12 month so this season be his first proper season . Only time will tell . His dam is the bitch we just put the greyhound over . Sire to mine was a 1/4 bull . Mine stands about 27 . Just needs to loose a bit more over next few weeks.
  19. I've had a few whippets and have found they need their nails grinding down a lot. If left they grow too long and bring on injuries. We have a little pet whippet now and it needs its nails grinding every month A vet told me greyhounds and whippets need nails clipping regularly and their teeth deteriorate much quicker than other breeds. I've noticed lurchers I've had had shocking teeth once they get older.
  20. Im camped right next to the wye running at side of me. Got my daughter and her mate with me. Mrs is coming down tomorrow so I'll be trying for a barbel . Here until Tuesday. I've caught a few bits round here years gone bye but it's normally if we've had some decent weather late September I come down for a few days everywhere still rock solid but I'm in no rush still needs to loose a bit of weight. Should be good for a few runs in a few weeks . Can't see it softening anytime soon though. More sun to come over this next week. Can't moan though. Enjoy it while it's here .
  21. The whippet i had never injured itself once even when the little fecker vanished on me in the dark in places you couldn't be shouting a dog it never hurt itself when I was wishing it bloody would. I lost her on the lamp once and found the little shit an hour later marking a pallet in the farm.
  22. Dunno. But I do know that communities given Scottish Government money to buy out foreign landowners are thriving. Because my son lives in just such a community. Be great to eventually re_ introduce lynx, maybe wolf and make salmon rivers affordable for working class people. The Highlands weren't intended to house only red deer and grouse. That was an invention of the English aristocracy. They have been eclipsed now by incredibly rich foreigners. Something like half a dozen, non _ british people own most of the highlands. That not healthy for me and you and definitely not healthy for o
  23. That'll bring MANY replies. I've NEVER seen a whippet with poor feet, but if you listen to 90% of people on this site, whippets have some of, or, the worst feet of any running dog! Absolute BULLSHIT!! And, I'd just like to add, I've owned 4 kc reg whippets, a pure whippet that wasn't registered, and a few lurchers with a fair amount of whippet in them. None of them had poor/weak feet.
