    Yes and yes . My daughter in law is Saudi and has a masters degree from an American University. My 10 year old grandson is half English , half Saudi and goes to an international school in Saudi and is studying for an international baccalaureate. My daughter did her complete education in Saudi and the UAE, my son did most of his education in Saudi and the last three years in England at boarding school. Like anywhere else, there are good and bad, but I never had any problems. Cheers.

    I’m not quick to forget anything mate. My point is that the war should be working towards positive change. And bombing schools does not achieve that. And the way the us political leadership are acting I’m not at all surprised it happened so soon. There is a point when a strategy of striking military targets to achieve political change fails if you have too many accidents and create more enemy than you kill. This war is going as well as Iraq or Afghan at this stage. It’s the bit the yanks do well. But that school strike is one good example of how things go wonky very f***ing quickly.

    Wilf, I worked for the Royal Saudi Airforce as a Specialist Instructor in their Air Defence Centre, from 1978, I saw the Iranian revolution in real time. I lived in the Middle East for 26 years, working mainly on military and civilian air bases. I speak passable Arabic, not as good as I should, but conversationable, I was there for the Iran/Iraq war, and when Egypt and Yemen were firing missiles into Saudi. I was there for both Gulf Wars. I have family and friends in the region including my daughter in law and grandson in Saudi and a cousin and his wife stuck in Cyprus
