I live in a very nice rural community that in the past 12 months is beginning to be f***ing destroyed. And that’s now the same story the country over. Its the sort of community where I can keep myself private but still everyone knows me. In the past 12 months though there’s been quite a bit of change. And this is the trouble I desperately want to move out of Essex as it’s too busy but where do I move to where there isn’t hordes of tribes, trust me I have looked and looked since I retired last year and I’m stuck in limbo, at least where I am now all my neighbours in my street are white British.

Ahh, it’s a conversation that’s been done to death on here lads and I’m sure it’s the last thing on poor BHs mind……we all know the reality’s. Its one of the reasons the east of Europe is setting its stall out to attract young professionals who can work in the digital economy, I think over time that’s the direction our brightest and best, who retain a sense of what a nice European country should look like, will head. Bottom line is, like all of us, the bloke just wants to live his life in peace in his homeland and not be prey to circumstances he didn’t want and didn’t ask for…..not too much to ask really is it.
Borr 7,912
If I was getting a guard it would be a gsd , no question. Lovely to have about , and more than capable....
Franks dad 2,070
Rottweiler would be my first choice , and if to big for you , a German shepherd, both naturally guard and brought up from a pup , good house dogs
DogMagic2 88
I wouldnt get a mali unless you are able to dedicate HOURS a day to exercising and training it. A good, working line german shep would probably be your best bet. And then devote as much money as nec to a good schultzhund trainer

mackem 29,577
An ARC burglar alarm, decent external lighting and a dog that barks will deter 95% of casual burglars and make them seek out less protected premises.

I am surprised no one has mentioned a form of lurcher yet mine does a good enough job of deterrent. But wouldn’t be an out and out guard dog.

Born Hunter 17,910
My spaniels sounding off are probably as much a deterrent as anything. I was thinking more of something that would act as a last line of defence for my family in my absence. Something to chew f**k out of any intruder while they get to safety. Something I’m going to have to think on but several people now have said it’s the wrong way to go.
