Are you even a lurcher man if you’ve never had one ? At one time in Carlisle you would genuinely see a dozen a time fuelling up along Scotland road in a Friday night with lads sat outside taking shit . It was like the worst version of fast and furious you’ve ever seen

First car was a Ford 100E, I think it was a 1959 model. A rust bucket, but as has been said, things like an MOT were “optional extras”, like wing mirrors and radios, back then ! LOL !

As for dog motors, Morris 1000 van, a few Viva vans, a Simca 1100 van, an ex police Maestro, but when I went abroad I moved a bit more up market; Subaru AWD Estate;

Range Rover;

And when I came home I got a Hyundai Santa Fe;

It was quality having a car like that at 18, for some reason I got it into my head I wanted a BMW, sold the xr2 and bought one, I instantly regretted it

And here's me thinking that parking on the pavement is a product of the current ignorant/selfish mindset of people. How is someone pushing a pram or wheelchair meant to safely get past that? At that time it was only BMW drivers though 🙂

Charts thats a blast from the past. Before I had a car my mate had a 100E an ex police car it had a metal disc in the middle. of the roof where the old light was mounted. Before that had had the old upright one. I remember going rabbiting up on Dartmoor one day with four of us. If we came to a steep hill two of us had to get out and push then he would go on and we would have to meet at the top of the hill, it only had three gears. I think I'm right that the wipers worked of the exhaust and were hopeless.

Cheers Arry

I think the one before the 100E was the 95E popular, nicknamed “the sit up and beg”. I had one of those aswell but the 100E was the first one sort of legal ! LOL !

I remember the wipers working off a vacuum system from the engine intake, the faster the engine revved, the faster the wipers went !

Cheers.

I knew it was something like that. If it was pissing down and you were going down hill and not using the engine much the wiper couldn't keep up Lol.

it seems, that a lot of us had some older cars ranging back from late 50`s through to the 90`s but we wished we still had them....why is that?....

is it because it was our first car...or, the freedom you had to go places...or, the value at todays prices....or, just for the memories....

Id say, nostalgia, it rakes us back to our younger days, when times seemed easier and we were just after the lips between the hips lol, except for pardus, rumour has it purple aki took out a stalking order against him
