TRUEBRIT66 1,954 Posted Thursday at 05:51 Report Share Posted Thursday at 05:51 Vauxhall Viva the stereo and speaker I put in it cost more than the car, the car did last longer as the stereo was stolen 3 weeks later you could open the doors with a bread knife. 1

Bosun11 537 Posted Thursday at 06:53 Report Share Posted Thursday at 06:53 First was a Mini Cooper, I was 15, and paid twenty five quid for it. Just used at nights mostly. Used to park it a few streets away, on an empty house drive, so my parents didn't know. Had it for about 6 months. Beer mat tax disk. First propper car was a Vauxhall Chevette estate, in 1984, paid sixty quid for it. Passed my test on the Wednesday, bought the car on the Saturday, loaded up with lads and dogs, and went digging badgers in Shropshire on the Sunday. Halcyon days... As Tomo said, tax and insurance were optional. I must have taxed it at some point but not right away, and I remember paying Swinton a fiver a week for insurance, back in the days when you went into the shop and paid it cash... Stavross 17,000 Posted Thursday at 07:13 Report Share Posted Thursday at 07:13 First legal car after passing my test was a mk2 Vauxhall Astra B reg, I had it 4 months before I let a lass drive it and she put it through a fence into a field of sheep, then my mate bought a mk2 xr2 for me and let me pay for it on catalog terms, I loved that car, I think it’s still on the road, I seen it at a car show a few years ago, still looked mint
