Will put it in the fishing section as well but chew valley res near Bristol has just done the British record

Yeah...McHull was holding it!! Lol

I used to trim cork to the shape of a chum mixer for surface fishing, it’s all I used. Had fish to 30lb off the top that way, used to do a lot of surface fishing because frankly, other people did

Theres old tales of gigantic pike in ireland, Jeremy wade even done an episode of river monsters trying to catch them, maybe they died off due to pollution who knows, but look at the size of the muskies, pike on steroids and can breed with pike

Only big fish I've caught is tope what pike fight like in comparison.

I've never caught a tope  but big winter pike are generally not up to much, as I said above my biggest fish a winter pike fought like a gate post, just a dead weight,  it gave a couple of lunges when it saw the net but nothing drastic,  river fish tend to be gamer than still water,  summer Jack's on the other hand tend to be quite feisty lots of jumping and tail walking as the attempt to throw the lure,  despite their looks they are actually a very delicate fish and  need a lot of rest after a scrap .

One of the best informative books I have read on pike and it's close relatives. With plenty of photos and descriptions.
