That's what i just don't with those on the left with that train of thought anybody knows if you get more dog's you have to build more kennels. I know in Rotherham a lot of the old terraced slum housing in rundown areas were bought buck shee by Pakistanis and when they couldn't get no feker to live in them claiming rent the labour council and some of it's councillors went to deprived parts of Romania to encourage the residents to come to Rotherham with promises of jobs and a house witch they did in their hundreds.

What does left wing mean? If it means the desire for the same level of employment protection, sick pay, pensions, the same  levels of,education and health spending as is enjoyed by people in civilised countries  like the nordic countries and in Germany, France and Spain then I'm a leftie.

The main reason we had such high European  immigration was because employers in this country can hire and fire on a  whim and pay washers to people. Low wage costs means employers don't have to invest in modern machinery which imo at least holds productivity in the UK  back.

There was a study published a few weeks back which demonstrated that british workers' pay was around 8 grand less than comparative countries when you take into account the "social wage", i.e better pensions, sick pay and health care which are enjoyed in other European countries. 

The press and the media are controlled by the mega rich. They have successfully taught us that "left wing" means wokeness, love of minorities and transgender issues, it is used as an insult. Its f**k all to do with that it's about being on the side of your own people: _the workers if you like.

Labour has abandoned its own people. I don't know what Starmer and Co stand for. Corbyn's big idea was a tenner an hour minimum pay rate. Big f****n deal. Nobody can bring a family up and pay their bills on that. Yet a man in the fiftiesand sixties could pay his bills on one wage.

My nephew lost a finger at work a month back. He gets £94 a week sick pay. People in the rest of Europe get a very high percentage of their wage   no questions asked when they are sick. All he gets from his boss is "when aree you coming back, can't keep the job open for ever you know."

In his farewell speech Johnstone advised "stay close to America". He would say that. The tories, like the yanks, are big into ruthless, dog _eat_ dog capitalism. You can still have a healthy capitalist system and look after your people as is proved by the countries I've referred to. We have a kind of social apartheid in this country where the workers who do all the work and create all the wealth are treated like shit. We still have a horrible, victorian divisive class system.We ares stuck in the cap doffing past. Power to the people! And f**k the tories. And f**k the press barons too.

I feel as i am between the devil and the deep blue sea a lefty in the fact i want the best for the working man and woman that gets up and does an honest day's work on the other hand i am totally against an open door policy on immigration. I bet i am in a minority on hear being a member of a trade union.

The level of union membership in modern forward thinking counties in Europe is around 90%. Unions participate in management decisions and their input is genuinely valued. Here the unions are treated as the devil, they are in retreat and are pretty weak anyway. Hence low pay.

I remember in the sixties I was working in a textile mill and they used to have separate toilets for management and workers.  A mate was caught short and had a dump in the staff toilets. He was suspended for three days. He went to the shop steward and we were all on strike within the hour. They had a big order on so the management apologised, reinstated my mate and did away with separate toilets.The papers got hold of the story and called us all communists and blackmailers for holding the company to ransom. What a f****n joke. After that we got more concessions from the management. They used to have management parking spaces and we said f**k that why should they have that. They abandoned the idea of separate parking and gave the spaces to deliveries and visitors. Unions are great when they have proper clout and everyone sticks together.

What year did you leave school? I was only on a fiver a week in 64 and I gave 95% of it to my mam. Fourteen quid was a fortune.

Someone should ask them how will they do that when the ECHR over rules our Supreme Court and won't allow us to send illegals back to France or to Rwanda ?

It's the same with pensions. The state pension used to rise annually according to how much wages had risen. Thatcher changed that method and linked the annual rise to the retail price index. (rpi)Then the tories said that was too expensive. The triple lock was introduced which meant pensioners either got  the  greater of either 2.5% of the annual consumer price index (cpi), or the average rise in wages as  measured by cpi or cpi itself if it was greater than 2.5%. Historically cpi is always less than rpi usually  by 1%.  So that too was of con trick. Last year tricky Rishi said wages had risen so much that the tories would renege on the promise of the triple lock and pensioners only got the cpi rise.

That's why our state pension is so low...underhand dealing from the tories.

Don't forget all these conjuring tricks and broken promises affects youngsters' pensions even more than present pensioners. Because these low rises mount up over the decades.

Our pension is the second lowest in Europe. I know other Europeans have their pensions linked to their employment so the way pensions are measured is different.  But the net effect is still the same. Very poor incomes for pensioners in the UK.

I thought the triple lock was either wage growth, inflation or 2.5% ?

Last year wage growth was around 8%, so they suspended the triple lock and then it was whichever was highest, inflation or 2.5 %.

Inflation was only around 1.5 %, (how fortuitous was that ? ), 

So we got the 2.5 %, which neant I got the grand total of £2.80 per week rise in my pension, but my gas and electricity bill rose by £60 per month !

Sunak promised to reinstate the triple lock for next year, but with inflation guaranteed to be in double digits by September, don't be supprised if whoever is the next Chancellor suspends the triple lock again !
