Never known anyone add whippet blood to foxing lurchers, there is no doubt dogs with whippet blood doing the job but that's a whole different thing.

I'm in agreement with south ham's there is whippets and whippet xs doing the job of fox but week in week out 2-3-4 a night then doing it again couple more times that week I dont think something with alot of whippet in there would do it

I'm a big fan of whippets....but I also believe the old sayings; "horses for courses" and "hounds for grounds" !

I can't for the life of me see any advantage in introducing whippet blood into a foxing lurcher line ?

If it's to get more speed, use a greyhound.

IMO it's more of an edibles dog taking a fox that pops up rather than a dog for foxing

Really like whippets,I had a pair of them when I started off,they were cracking little dogs and got me in to hunting foxes, killed a good amount of foxes with them running double obviously, they took a hell of a lot punishment if on there own and dropped a few here and there if 1 caught while the other was still in cover as they used to hunt up with terriers,now all I do is foxes,I wouldn't dream of adding whippets to a good fox bitch if you think you need add whippet for bitch to catch she not that good obviously,

The problem is the generation that's halfx imo but bringing size down slightly and adding more agility is definitely a benefit for places like where I am. Small rough fields that you've only got 2/3 turns, those big 28" dogs struggle then

I had a little half whippet bitch that didn't have it to do foxes herself but was great for turning them for the big dogs on small fields.

You make a very good point about the ground. Ideal dogs for that ground, but would come up short on bug arable ground with big slips. A lot of folk forget it really is about the ground, quarry, way you hunt and the individual dog.

, When I ran hounds my cousin was running a dog out of a half x Wheaton greyhound and a whippet dog came off Mike browns stuff he's pup come out around 25 tts but he was out every Sunday killing foxes off cover with us but he was strongest dog in it was 2 bitches and another dog I see only made rabbit dogs, but dog in question was put to 3/4 grey 1/4 English bull and and the 4 dog pups she had killed fox most sundays

You got a dog can do 40 a month 200 + a season out 4 times a week
