The couple that own my local boozer have got a couple of them that the bought back from spain.Lost count of the times ive given the poxy things a whack round the snout for jumping up me.

Had another look. The podenco campenero (bell hound) are the leggier kind and the heavier set ones are valduez dogs. dogo x campenero x a pointing griffon type. Used on boar it seems possibly why theirs such a big pack

Because the land is huge, covered with brush and boar are smart as fuuck

A 150kg boar can creep past you within a few feet and you'd never know it was there. Smaller packs and the boar will run rings around the dogs on that type of land.

While I agree somewhat and theirs always variables.ive noticed in countries where dogs are more disposable regardless of quarry they tend to go overkill on pack size. Some folk just want a catch and give zero fucks in regards to the overall quality of their dogs working ability and with big numbers some pack members can get away with being work shy. Obviously a lot of it will depend on whats considered a good days hunting to the owners as well.

I like how the dogs picked their positions around the bushes. Reminds me of what I've heard of rabbit dogs here, pre myxi. Some of the old time rabbiters had 100 plus dogs and would have a full time job catching rabbits on some properties. I used to stay in an old rabbiters hut on one place years ago. The shack was covered in old hooks to hang the rabbits. We would often get 300 for the weekend and sold them at $5 each. Wasn't bad as I was only earning $75 a week as an apprentice.

I don't think it was too many dogs for vermin control in that type of country. Two or three dogs would be struggling to catch anything.

A group of us went out to Spain, thinking we knew what was what... schooled isn't the word. If that's what works for them, who are we to say it's wrong

There job is steadily working stuff to standing rifles no ? some wearing bells and casting out causing enough disturbance to make stuff vacate the area but not at speed with the odd dog getting a mouthful of wounded or dead stuff ? 
 

If thats how they do it good luck to them but to me that aint bushing theres no hunts in cover or what not its just numbers of dogs putting abit of pressure on things and pushing them about bushing to me is small dogs hunting hard and killing in and out the bushes.

No bells mate and yes their main job is to push the boar out. However, If those dogs caught up with/cornered a boar, all hell would break loose. There's dogs in those photos that will grab a boar on their own, given half the chance. Make no mistake, they know their job and in that pack you have all jobs covered

It looks like a good day out to me. It never fails to amaze me how we feel qualified to judge others people hunting in parts of the world we've never been to and yet won't be judged ourselves. Hunters are a funny breed lol
