He did an appearance thing at my gym few years ago. Not really my thing so I didn't go but wouldn't have been far from you either of course.

Does Jimmy Marcu (sp?) still compete at any level? He wasn't the typical strongman build so it's a name that stuck with me.

Been following it online best as I could without a live stream and thought without keliszkowski competing that it was shaws best chance of a 5th title but he struggled throughout . Tom stoltman did well especially after his last place in the Hercules hold but it isn’t surprising his grip let him down after watching the way him and Luke trained for it . What was a surprise was him winning the log medley which isn’t one of his strong points . He smashed the field in the stones as expected and I think he’ll definitely  be a future winner if he carries on improving the way he has . Also don’t think it will be long till we see him at 400lb plus after he came in this year at about 385 , he definitely got the frame to carry it like Thor and Brian . Bit disappointed for Luke not to make the final though and expected a bit better from Richardson but he’s still young and it was his first time so hopefully he’ll learn from it and come back stronger

Trained with Jimmy a lot years ago he got somewhat mixed up with the wrong crowd and did a little sentence for drugs must of been about 2010 and has since been banged up for people smuggling,last i heard he was in Pentonville.....still trains so im told.

Shame. Not that I’m into it all. Totally shocking though asking how an athlete is doing to hear he’s inside for people smuggling! 

I just liked that he had some athleticism about him.

He was a good allround athlete in fairness he could certainly shift when he needed to for a big guy and had brilliant grip strength.....wasnt my cuppa tea all that lifting logs and barrels caper but his static gym lifts with perfect form were really impressive,solid skeletal strength,very few injuries....but a weakness for a pound note....shame he was a likeable sort of lad.

Same as you i liked strongman competitions back then Jouko Ahola would be another of that generations smaller more athletic competitors i thought he was great.....i lost interest when it all went circus showman big.... who cares if you can lift a car if you cant run to the end of the street !
