mark williams 7,549
Just finished replacing all the ridge tiles for new ones on a property in Newton-le-Willows. The owner wanted two active starling nests and their young removed from the base of each hip on a three sided roof . Well lads I point blanc refused to remove the nests and the chicks and left the face of the ridge tiles, tight to the gutter, "wide open" to allow the parent starling entry to the young and continue to feed them, which they did The customer paid me up and said he would get his son to go up and block the young in with cement , I told him to leave them be for a few weeks and I`ll return, free of charge and duly point in the face of the ridge tiles correctly. I also told him, as he had paid me in cash, that if he does block those chicks in to starve to death I`ll come back and fall out with him " the old fashioned way". He has now promised me he will let the birds and their young, leave the nests natures way and phone me when they have gone. Sensible chap atb Mark 12 Quote Link to post

philpot 4,928
We have two families living in the loft, one we call 'chicken george' because he spends time with the chickens in the farm next door then comes home doing all his / her chicken & rooster impressions, I sit and watch them for ages. They are NOT in decline over here, loads of them. Phil 2 Quote Link to post

baz 463
I have just wet dashed the house, and forgot to put the vent grill back for shower extractor, kids noticed starling taking straw etc in, so iv had to leave it till the chicks have left..... Downside is... Chicks gave hatched in ceiling above bathroom, the parents have pecked/ripped through extractor pipe and are rearing young ontop if 200mm of cosy wrap now... And I get woken very early by them haha, can't wait till they leave 1 Quote Link to post
